With signing of Hirst our squad is strong enough. 11:10 - Jul 13 with 2302 views | whymark4lazio0 | Hirst is a great signing. Congrats to all involved. Our squad is now strong enough to secure at least a mid-table position in the Championship. I have great faith in what some might see as fringe players Donacien- has never let us down and probably still our best one on one defender Edmundson- Another excellent defender and only kept out of the team by Burgess's great form. Leigh- Strong, athletic and confident. Reliable cover Ball- Excellent cover for CM and CB. Proven at this level. Jackson- Great character and probably one of the fastest players in the league Evans- Was probably our player of the first-half of last season. Leader, Great range of passing. Humphrys- Great prospect did a great job for a few games when called on. Confident. Harness- Always brings great energy and creativity Aluko- See Harness Edwards- Great skill- might be even more effective at a higher level Ladapo- Improved steadily through the season. Reliable goal-scorer. Excellent with back to the goal. In addition- all of these squad players are team players and will not sulk if not playing regularly. Team spirit will count for a lot in this new league. Not saying we shouldn't sign one or two if the right players become available (perhaps an exciting young striker on loan?) but I think it's just as important to keep the core of the squad that played with such spirit and togetherness to get us promoted.

.... and a right winger. If we can add Trusty, Rak-Sakyi and Surridge to the 3 we've already signed, then that would be amazing.

I’ll be amazed if we don’t sign another striker on 11:13 - Jul 13 with 2224 views | Dyland | Loan maybe. We’re also clearly looking for another CB. Wouldn’t rule out another attacking wide option as well.

I’d honestly feel very confident of troubling the top six with them here.

Have we been linked with Surridge?

With those 3 we would be pushing top 6+,

With signing of Hirst our squad is strong enough. on 12:27 - Jul 13 with 1861 views | Darth_Koont | Good post. Agree that the fringe players (at least the majority of them) will need the chance to prove themselves. And I think certain players have different strengths that can come to the fore more than perhaps even in League One. As you say like Donacien who is one of our best defenders and like Humphreys who looks to have the all-round game and ability on and off the ball to thrive in a tougher, tighter league. I think in a lot of games, especially away, midfield might even open up for a third CM that means we can accommodate the perceived weaknesses of a Humphreys or an Evans for what they’re capable of adding. But overall it’s the last para re: keeping the core squad together that’s the most important. There’ll be a temptation to splurge and see if we can challenge this season but I’d prefer us to learn and adapt first and not risk a transitional season. Ultimately, our backing and Prem ambition gives us the opportunity to do things right and build up over a couple of years. If the right quality additions come along then great but our real strength is the team and how we play our system so we should be talking incremental improvements anyway rather than more sweeping changes.

With signing of Hirst our squad is strong enough. on 12:49 - Jul 13 with 1653 views | Dubtractor | The first 11 is strong enough, but not the squad. We need another cb, and I'd agree with the general consensus that we could use another cf and another rw too.

With signing of Hirst our squad is strong enough. on 12:53 - Jul 13 with 1611 views | gordon | Personal view is that it's a big step down in quality from Chaplin, Broadhead and Burns to Harness, Jackson, Aluko and Edwards - I'd look to move on Harness and Jackson, and then bring in two versatile forwards - one a talented Prem loan and another more proven. Add a new centre-back to that and we're in good shape.

I agree with the principle of the post. In my mind there is currently a step back when you look at the finishers in the attacking group as a whole. Individually, each may be capable of sharing minutes but the impact is cumulative when several of them end as finishers. We have space in the squad to add and cover in this group.
