Sorry to bring things back to the atrocities of October 7 13:34 - Oct 19 with 4199 viewsGlasgowBlue

Trigger warning. No scenes but graphic descriptions from first responders.

But there are some terrible stories about how whole families were tortured in front of each other and had body parts removed before they were murdered.

They are still finding bodies from the rave nearly two weeks later.

It's beyond comprehension, with the word 'atrocities' barely doing it justice. It's on a level of evil of Darfur, if not the same scale. The largest systematic killing of jews since the holocaust, isn't it? I can't get my head around how someone could carry out acts like this. The level of hatred must be off the charts.

And of course 100s of hostages still going through god knows what. Evil scum who deserve to be wiped off the face of the earth (not the hostages!).

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

You make a very good point regarding the hostages.

Imagine actually being relived that your seven year old child is dead rather than being held hostage in Gaza.

A caller on LBC an hour ago referred to the Hebron pogrom which I hadn't heard of before and took place in 1929 before there was any Jewish state.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1929_Hebron_massacre

This made me probe a little further, and I came across this.

When will we see mass protests against Hamas from the supporters of Palestine?

Please don't demean this by replying about something to do with top trumps. This is the Gazan Palestinian reality....1,000 dead children. Our politicians should be demanding a ceasefire, not sending weapons.

Completely agree. A highly disappointing two weeks on TWTD.

This was 9/11 scale big, the worst terrorist atrocity in modern times and within a few hours members board using language lile "inevitable" and "not sure I couldn't trust myself to do the same". Depressing stuff.

Plenty of lowlights including the "Nice work Nethanyahoo" An immediate 4-6 pager when the Guardian and legacy media had told them Israel had blown a hospital to bits. The narrative was there but not one of the usual suspects had the balls to admit they were wrong, at least according to BBC independent verify (unlike their 7 reporters that are now under investigation) as well as multiple intelligence accounts.

Or at the very least admitting they were wrong to jump to these immediate conclusions.

What has been clear during the last 12 days is that Jew hatred is still very real. Not just lunatics living in their mums basement either. Cornell, UPenn and Harvard all came out to play. The Cornell professor calling the attacks "exhilarating" particularly horryfying. BLM chapters posting an image of a paraglider saying "stand with Palestine", journalists suspended, the list goes on.

I hope that people can find peace and less hatred in their hearts and that some also take a long look in the mirror. And as the body count rises on all sides, it becomes sadder and sadder. Just nasty few weeks all round and probably time for me to take a break from this place as well, which is a shame given it's my place to talk about my passion and home town club from afar.

I couldn't agree more.

Such obvious prejudices on show by a few posters, but always the same posters.

"Nethanyahoo" I mean, what's that about? To make light of the atrocities that have taken place?

Political point scoring, disgusting!

Best left alone, makes my blood boil.

You won’t because Hamas is their ‘government’ and the terrorist faction and government are very intertwined. Not that there’s any traditional sense of the word government in that desperate situation people were forced into called Gaza.

It’s almost as if people have a completely different view on Israel depending on if you see it from the perspective of an oppressed people or you can ignore that uncomfortable reality.

And no, I don’t condone the more extreme responses that celebrated the Hamas massacre as a form of liberation. Like you presumably wouldn’t condone the responses of those who want to flatten Gaza and wipe out the Palestinians as a result.

BTW I’ve called for peace and an end to the violence for years. Nothing has been done — in fact the occupation and oppression and the terrorism have been ramped up by the extremists on both sides still running the show.

The Hamas massacre doesn’t retroactively justify that — or justify worse from now on. We need an immediate ceasefire and we certainly shouldn’t be giving cover to escalation on either side. If we’re serious about caring for both sets of civilians.

One thread. Just one, remembering the victims of last week’s pogrom and highlighting the terrible inhumane way innocent Israeli families were wiped out.

The deaths of Palestinian children is absolutely heartbreaking. I don’t value the lives of Israeli children higher than the lives of Palestinians. But over the past 12 days there have been at least 5 threads a day highlighting the awful situation in Gaza. You have understandably contributed to the majority of those and used those threads to post similar links to the one yiu have just posted.

I just wanted one thread about the victims of the Hamas attack that could be added to as more awful stories come out.

Sadly, that wasn’t allowed to happen.

This isn’t happening in a vacuum. The thread has already morphed into a discussion of the overall situation and people’s opposing views.

I’d expect the same in a discussion of what’s happening to the Gaza’s civilians now even though we’re watching the retaliation against them in real time.

It isn't a team thing, at least not in my mind. I see it as a thread about the deaths and suffering of innocents.

Who mentioned teams. There are multiple threads each day about the suffering of innocent Palestinians. I’ve contributed to most. Not once have used this threads to highlight the suffering on the other side, because I don’t believe it is appropriate.

Oh well, this thread seems to be going to sh1t. Best to just lock it Phil.

Or people could just read the thread and see that it was a thread remembering the victims of the Hamas atrocities until some started using it as a stick to attack the other side.

Like your post yesterday afternoon that resurrected the thread and took a swipe at pro-Palestinians when the thread was exactly what you say you wanted.

"Teams," "sides".....same difference. I found that article very moving and it in no way detracts from how terrible the pogrom was. I'll leave it there.

I don't think this is very fair GB.

There are 3 posters on this thread who have heavily implied that other unnamed forum posters are racists and you've not mentioned it's a remembrance thread to them, you've let it pass.

I don't think you can have it both ways, it's either a remembrance thread and you need to call them out as well or it's a discussion.

On the thread itself, those stories are awful, the video especially it's a really hard watch. I think everyone agrees that Hamas are monsters and what those people have been through is utterly horrible.

I posted a tweet from Adam Ma’anitl, which was highlighting the murder of his cousin and family. I don’t know why the other tweet was attached to it.But the attached tweet wasn’t attacking pro Palestinians. It’s was attacking somebody who was pro Hamas. Really don’t want to do this with you today. And certainly not on this thread. So please don’t reply.

Actually I was just about to say the same to JJJ and Zapers when you posted. I wish I had reacted quicker but I was replying to two other people who were making multiple posts. So my point applies to the posters I’ve just mentioned.

Maybe sometimes we reply to those we interact with more. Probably why six or seven people can make the same point but one person will chose only to reply to frimley.

Edit. Just to expand on my reply as I going out of the door and rather rushed my original relay to you.

I said it was a thread remembering the victims and also highlighting the inhumane treatment of those victims by Hamas. So I don’t think it is unjustified for people to get angry at Hamas or those who have shown any support for Hamas (not suggesting for one minute that anyone in here has done so). I also don’t think it is unreasonable for posters to highlight the antisemitism that has increased by 500% in this country or true vile pro Hamas statements people have made on the streets of British cities in support of Hamas atrocities.

I would fully expect a thread in the killing of innocent Palestinians in Gaza to be followed by people condemning Netanyahu and his extreme right wing fanatical government.

I wouldn’t expect posters to join a thread regarding atrocities carried out by the Israeli government by adding atrocities carried out on Israeli civilians by Palestinian terrorists, especially when there are at least 5 a day in the subject.

My reply to banksy was also very polite and free of any confrontation.
