its really the top 7 best placed teams excluding Pakistan, who qualify, they need 8 teams in the tournament basically, and theres no other qualifiers to be held, which means the likes of Ireland, West Indies etc dont even get a chance to qualify.
so if the table as it is now was the final result, Netherlands would qualify from 8th, because Pakistan are 6th and they dont need to qualify as host | | | |

It's an odd one isn't it even bringing back this Champions trophy as it's been killed off so many times and ODI's are seen as such an irrelevance these days on the whole.
I will give my thanks to ODI´s as they did get me in to the real cricket (test matches) as a young man ....I guess like maruijana leads to the harder stuff......I'm guessing twenty20's would have been my enabler if I had been born in the 90's. [Post edited 29 Oct 2023 16:26]

In normal circumstances, Netherlands should be a win more than 9 times out of 10. Pakistan should be slightly in our favour and Australia slightly in theirs.
On current form I make it:
Australia to beat us by an innings and (oh, can't quite can they? Maybe 10 wickets or over 200 runs)
Pakistan to beat us by 7 wickets or 150 runs
Netherlands to win by a few wickets or around 50 runs.
Then they can come home where they would clearly rather be.
There is little doubt we will end bottom of the group by a long way. | |
