Silver award winner for "Best footballer - football league"...

And they put it out there with him wearing a Pompey shirt... How difficult would it have been to find a picture of him in a Town shirt?

It's not like he was at Pompey immediately before us either, he had a stint at Barnsley. That is pretty ridiculous stuff.

Congrats to Chappers, although he surely deserved a gold award? 29 goals last season and not playing as a 9 is some feat.

As the award is for Football League, ie, not the Premier League... was the voting just based on just over 3 months, given that Jamie Vardy was the Gold winner? Even in that short amount of time, 16 games in the football league, I wouldn't think Vardy has really been the 'best' player, has he?

Edit: Also, Paul Mullin got the bronze award, who, like Vardy, has only played football league in the last few months, being National League last season.

Vardy won the gold award? That's mental! Chappers has more goals in the Championship than him let alone his exploits from last season.

I think it's for their social media rather than best footballer per se, although not sure. It is the Football Content Awards, though.

Ah, that would make more sense I guess.

It would, although it is still a very short space of time for Vardy, Mullin and Wrexham to have been in the football league - have they been massive in churning out content in that short time?

Ironic given their lazy content with Chaplin in the shirt of a club he hasn't played for in over 5 years.

That's also surprising that he's recognised though, he seems fairly low key on the socials unless I'm missing something.

All seems rather odd. It's a good event for youtubers etc, but wonder if Chaplin even knew this was a thing or if he was nominated, I had no idea. Haaland won gold in something, can't imagine he was there to claim his prize.

Poll: An interesting day for our politicians, but which one is worse?

Yeah I don’t think it is for social media, Haaland won the Prem one, think it’s just an add on from the actual content awards.

Is it not? I'd always assumed it was and am sure that was what it was about in its early years.

Chaplin ain’t exactly prominent on social media to outsiders? And not is Vardy I don’t think. Haaland won the Premier League one, don’t even know if he posts on socials

Indeed, it's surprised me the players who have been nominated. But if not that, what are the awards for?

If it really was for content publishing then I would have thought that Ben Foster would have been the most credible (ex)Wrexham candidate.

It’s the “football content” awards and nothing to do with the actual Football League beyond the participation. I doubt anyone is losing sleep at not receiving that particular gong, if they can’t even be up for finding recent photos they probably don’t know who was and wasn’t a Football League player 6 months ago. Seems like a totally amateur organisation.
