True story, the chap at the front in the middle photo, is the grandfather of someone I know. He is a spitting image of him too.

My great uncle drove a DUKW amphibious lorry on D-day and transported men and cargo from ship to shore. He was one of the lucky ones that came home.

He basically drove a truck across Europe for the rest of the war and was at Auschwitz by the time the war ended.

He died January 2006 at nearly 80. I knew him as a kind and gentle man.
