I am not saying that out of bias either. He may come up short when playing one of top nations but Denmark are average. The left hand side of the pitch is awful. Trippier is a good right back but a poor left back. Davis's energy and vision would give them another level.

He would IF there was a system to support him. I’m not sure there is though. It seems to be a collection of 11 individuals trying to work it out as they go along.
KM would have a field day with this lot. They’d win everything for a generation.

He would at least run into space!
He would. Southgate doesn’t want that though. He was asked pre-match about the LB position and said Trippier was key to getting the clean sheet last match (and he was - he made two great last ditch interventions to deny almost certain goals).
He’s not interested in how the defenders could be an outlet. Shearer now talking about one of the CBs should be stepping up every so often. But that’s not Southgate’s way either.
Trippier at left back completely nullifies our attack on that side. He doesn't overlap and always comes back on to his right. So, so easy to defend against.
It does beg the question when do you look at blooding a Championship player. Davis with the record amount of assists for a defender in a season and plays attacking football.
It would certainly take a brave manager to consider it, but I think I'd rather have a balance than a square peg on a round hole.
