The WAG:war thing 15:26 - Oct 7 with 1204 views | NthQldITFC | I've never followed this saga before, but are WAG A and WAG B morphing into one another, or have they always looked like that? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4g53vxjlpjo Also is there a dedicated website where they discuss all things cars called WAG on Wheels?

The WAG:war thing on 19:01 - Oct 7 with 943 views | britbiker | Apparently Rooney's legal fees were something like 1.70 million ( bearing in mind that this wasnt exactly a murder case). Yet no one in the legal world questions how the legal bods are able to charge such ridiculous rates. Often wonder how it feels to give your client a bill like that without making the what ha ha comedy villain sound. (I get that not every penny of the claim is fees)

Where do we start with this one? Libel cases tend to be very costly because they are generally only brought by wealthy people with public reputations. It is a small niche so the top practitioners get to charge very high rates. The idea that no one in the "legal world" questions these things is not correct. There is a well established formal procedure for actively challening and contesting opponents' bills, which is presumably why this case is back in court. There are increasingly fixed costs regimes being applied, there is fairly rigorous costs budgeting applied by judges. What you pay your lawyer is between you and the lawyer (though that can be formally challenged too), but what you pay when you lose is pretty heavily policed.

More the case that the likes of Rooney can spend those kind of sums, so they do. They hire the most prestigious barristers (plus their teams of juniors, advisors, PR people, etc.) and pay them whatever they ask.

I worked in legal for a decade. A highly public, high profile case like this would command tremendous fees. Plus it actually went to court, which the majority of even litigation matters don't. Lawyers have a field day when they sense a highly emotive, principal based case is going to court. They are the only winners in all honesty. This should have never got to court and only really speaks to both their Hubris.
