Is this evidence that Tim Robinson has history of showing bias against Ipswich? 03:44 - Nov 5 with 3161 views | melbs_itfc | Tim Robinson (referee) - Ipswich vs opposition complete card issuing history 2015 - 2024 Forgive me, but I was intrigued (and also a bit bored as it is a public holiday here in Melbourne today!) so I went back and re-read the TWTD Leicester pre match article about Tim Robinson’s history officiating us over the years and what I found was quite compelling… - He has refereed us in a total of 14 MATCHES going back to 2015.;(including the Leicester match) 11 home and just 3 away. - He issued a total of 45 YELLOW cards and 2 RED cards in that period. - 28 YELLOW cards were to us (two were 2nd yellows) and 2 RED cards (both to us). - 17 YELLOW cards to opposition players. 0 RED cards. However what I found interesting is that 11 of those 14 matches were played at Portman Road when you would perhaps think that the card count would be slanted slightly toward the away players, whilst actually Robinson brandished 62% of his yellow cards and 100% of the red cards to Ipswich. Both red cards to us were also issued at Portman Road. For anyone interested the other red card was also seen as harsh at the time (two yellows for Tayo Edun against Villa early on in our 2017 relegation season. Please read Phil’s article above for more detailed info if you like. Not saying any of this is concrete evidence that Robinson is crooked or definitely bias against us, but certainly food for thought if nothing else.

He made some incompetent decisions failed by a bad system. That’s it in my view. Corruption is creeping in to our game imo but not in this opinion unless you can prove he has an agenda ie: Mike Oliver being paid by the Saudis to referee City games in Saudi for a lot of money and giving favourable decisions to City in the PL as a result.

We were much the better team and would have gone on to be Paul Hursts first win if it wasn't for that decision. Corruption? Probably not, another example of a really poor referee? Absolutely.

He was ridiculously inconsistent in his decision making Saturday and made one bad error, then compounded by a marginal call against us for fouls he was letting go elsewhere. Can we get over the corruption and bias thing though as it's getting ridiculous.

Corruption? I like to think not. But there is mounting, albeit circumstantial, evidence that referees are influenced by the need for the ‘right’ decisions for the PL elite. Leicester are not that but they are established and are part of the brand. And the brand is all important. Logos, cardboard arch, shiny pundits including the Liverpudlian spit monster, shouty circus style intros, match times at all hours to suit the tv men and s0d the supporters. All that jazz. The PL is all about the product. I’m sure most people love it, but not everyone, including a Palace supporting chap I was golfing with yesterday. He gave up his ticket a couple of seasons ago mainly because of the fixture timings. Back to correct outcomes, the classic is of course Coventry being robbed in the FA Cup semi final last season. It was there for all to see however much they tried to do a snow job on the injustice. It is obvious the suits wanted yet another Manchester derby. Commercially and for the brand it was the next best thing to Man C v Liverpool or Arsenal. The last thing wanted was a grubby little club like Coventry stinking Wembley out in their showpiece. The officials will have known that. I don’t like conspiracy theory, but too many cards fall the same way and it may be for example that Wolves’ beef about VAR last season has foundation and isn’t just inferiority complex.
