Clubs you'd like/wouldn't mind seeing back in the FL 17:21 - Nov 23 with 1455 views | gainsboroughblue | Noticed York are top of the National League. Recall Keith Houchen scoring the winner against the Arse in the Cup on match of the day. Oldham still feel like a league side despite not actually being in it. Wouldn't mind seeing them back even though Boundary Park is responsible for two of my most miserable away days following Town. Bury or the phoenix club would be good to see. Awful how they just folded before that 2019-20 season we were supposed to be facing them. I'm also hoping one day, Suffolk will see another club in football league. Needham are probably the best bet for that currently, though they are finding life in NL North tough at the moment.

But St Albans City could be interesting, an affluent area could pick up local London glory hunters and fill a medium size stadium. Chelmsford City a sleeping giant with 2 million Essex population, would cut into WHU support. Finally Kings Lynn if successful would start taking support away from NC in West Norfolk..

I realise that after the heady heights of their Rumbelows Cup win, regular duels with Rochdale and Stalybridge Celtic seem quite romantic to them, but I'd like to see them given a chance to prove themselves at League 2 level, as much as that may be beyond their pedigree.

Agree with all that. Would add Rochdale, Scunthorpe, Bury and Halifax as proper football clubs. Truro City, Gloucester City and Telford all have the capacity to sustain well supported league teams but obviously not ex-league teams. Some I feel may not be seen again in the league for a long time, if ever, notably Darlington, Southport and Workington.

Indeed. Would prefer any of those over someone like Hashtag FC for instance. Hartlepool is another club we haven't mentioned yet that are well supported and used to be in the league. Hereford too. Altrincham and Woking are clubs who have had good traditions in the game stemming from past cup exploits and get above average gates for the level they are at. Barnet seem to have periodic spells in and out of the league. Wouldn't mind seeing Maidstone back either, if only to make last seasons defeat seem not so bad.

Remember going to Old Trafford to watch Town and seeing coaches emblazoned with 'Worcester Reds'. Why don't they support Worcester! Seem to recall the largest town/city without a league team is Wakefield, probably because of rugby league dominating.

That's a good list in your first line - but I'd add Scunthorpe ahead of Aldershot and Chester.

A few years ago when St. Neots were splashing the cash ( Sylvan Lewinski and Stefan Moore played), saints and Kings Lynn were the big teams in their division. At the time Saints had about 6 or 7 black guys in the 1st X1, the abuse from Kings Lynn fans (they brought about 500 fans) was off the scale, absolute scumbags. F@ck them. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

You say that about Darlington and others but if you think back ten years or so, did you imagine that Barrow and Accrington would be back in the 92? Along with some of those mentioned I'd quite like to see Gateshead back. I can just about remember them in the league.

In the near future, Truro City are promoted to L2 and their first match is away at Carlisle. Sky change the kick off time to 13:00 on a Saturday. Coaches have to leave at 03:00. Def info.
