Our Bench - Defenders 13:38 - Dec 9 with 1058 views | bluesbrothers | KMc doesn't like having CBs on the bench, but with the volume of players now allowed on the bench I'm not sure this is the right approach. Very easy to say in hindsight but, given how weak Johnson is defensively (IMO), being able to bring on Greaves, go 5 at the back, and push DO'S out a little wider to help Johnson would've been very helpful. Think this is something he'll change?

I think the plan is for him to play through a back injury and a gash to the head. Which sounds alarming, but to be fair has worked OK in O'Shea's case!
Our Bench - Defenders on 13:48 - Dec 9 with 971 views | bsw72 | Has he ever implicitly said it is an active decision on his part not to put them on the bench. I don't get it, like I don't understand why Muric does not warm up with the other players pre-game, but curious as to whether KMcK has ever publicly stated why.

He has said on many occasions how he likes to have as many forward players on the bench as possible. I personally don't think you need both H Clarke and Townsend on the bench, and would be better served with one of them plus a CB. As for Muric, the #1 GK has always warmed up first and then gone into dressing room earlier, whilst the #2/#3 GKs stay out for the shooting warm-ups, etc. That's been the case for as long as I can remember

However, it will come back to bite him sooner rather than later when we have to play someone in a makeshift central defence role (like Phillips) and it won’t end well.

Obviously you are right if that situation happens. Equally, i can't remember a single team in McKennas tenure where that has actually happened?

Don't think it has to be a makeshift defender playing for it to not end well. We all saw the righ side problems yesturday. We've lost Tuanzebe, so maybe things may have been different if late on we were able to bring on wolfy and move oshea over.. instead of johnson. It may not have made any difference at all, but we'll never know, but the option strangely wasn't there despite it being Johnsons first game back from injury and being completely knackered so it may have helped.

The other thing Muric does separately to the other players is that he remains on the touchline by the dug out (talking to someone?) putting his gloves on while the outfield players do the little 'come into a circle and then a short sprint away' thing. I assume he does the actual pre-kick off huddle but haven't specifically checked.

He does the huddle, I've been studying. #MuricWatch
