After the events of the last week in the US, they should probably be considering themselves lucky we have proper gun control over here, right now.

‘But on Tuesday, Mr Weston defended bosses getting £770,000 in bonuses.
"I completely understand that there are customers out there who struggle with their bills," he added, pointing to bill support offered to about 377,000 customers in the last year.
Mr Weston, who was hired in January, was also awarded a bonus of £195,000 for his first three months at the company.‘

The attached was posted on here Aug/Sept but is worth a read. The key is that when privatised it had no debt. The article explains why it does now, why the public are being taken to the cleaners and why the environment is being destroyed.

I wouldn't be surprised if public opinion is being softened up for some form of public ownership of the water companies.

Part of the reason the water companies had no debt when they were privatised was thatcher turned off the water boards' access to cheap money in 1979, so that ten years later she was able to justify privatisation because they hadn't invest in improvements for ten years.

That's almost as good an example if chutzpah as the man who, having been found guilty of murdering his parents, begs for mercy on the grounds that he's an orphan.

Those who are able to, such as politicians and people with money and power actively embrace corruption. They see it as their right to take what they wish at the expense of anyone, especially the plebs.

Mind you, even if you transferred his bonuses to the customers it’s only a couple of quid each per year. And I assume that’s per property and not individuals. Peanuts in the grand scheme of things (not that it makes the disparity between exec pay and the rest any less obscene of course).

Although it wrapped up and called something else. But yes, it’s effectively corruption even though ‘they’ve done nothing wrong’. Appart from pump dh*t into our rivers of course, but that seems ok and doesn’t impact bonuses.

I’d make the fkers swim in the rivers and seas by their outfalls. You’d soon see them clean up their act.
