Remembering the fan who had it in for Darren Currie 19:03 - Jan 6 with 2539 viewsRIPbobby

With that kid constantly shouting into the one legged poddle at yesterday's match got me thinking about people whose vocals stood out over the years.

80's churchman's had the chap "come on towen". Which I assume is where our more modern version of it comes from.

And then later on in the north seats there was a chap who dispised Darren Currie. No matter what happened he found a way to blame DC. I'm sure there were others.

I can remember there being a 'Churchmans screamer' back in the 80's. Presumably female. Would always be very noticeable if there was a goalmouth scramble in our penalty area in the last few minutes.

Always remember from TV there was one at Highbury whenever Arsenal were about to concede.

In the 70's in the North Stand, before segregation, there was a woman who would scream everytime the opposition got near our goal.

Tbf you really shouldn't have touched her like that whenever the opposition got near our goal!

I remember a guy who did some kind of solo Gregorian chant in churchmans in the mid 80's ..we called him the monk.

I was fairly vocal about how bad i thought currie was but i only sat in the north once or twice. On one of tbose occasions remember berating royle/magic to get him off seconds before he floated a delightful ball over the top for westlake to bury it in a 1-0 win against someone. Everyone around me seemed quite amused. I like to think i left him alone after that.

Around 2000-2001 there was a guy in the North Stand who would deliberately sing the Hermann Hreidarsson song like an opera singer.

It got a laugh every time and half the reason I was gutted when Hermann left was because I’d never hear that sung again.

In the Cobbold in the very early 70s, (East stand as it was called then), a couple of rows behind me was an old fella called Herbie Ladd. "Git stuck into 'em" was all he ever seemed to shout in a thick Suffolk accent. He loved Derek Jefferson. Those Were The Days.

That was against Leeds and sitting behind me was another Currie hater, I took great delight in pointing out who made the perfect floated pass. Westlake did not have to break stride. I liked Currie With all his deficiencies. He could not tackle and to show how bent the semi final against West Ham was he got booked for a supposed nasty tackle with a Hammer writhing in agony at his feet only quickly to recover after the booking.

If Darren Currie had pace he should have played most of his career in the Premier League.

Back in 2002 in the lower cobbold were 2 classy men (bald, red faced, middle aged, angry) who slated Jermaine Wright all season, shouting at him, cursing him. In the end my brother and I would stand up and cheer him as soon as they started having a go. Utter scum they were
