Is Brennan Johnson only the second son of a former Ipswich player, that never played for Ipswich themselves, to (for Lincoln in 2021) play against us at Portman Road? Gary Bailey son of Roy Bailey (won the top three English leagues with Town) being the other, who was at Manchester United.

Andre Dozzell has obviously played against us, he's the only son of I can think who ended up playing for the first team. I can't think of many other father-son combos at Town. Andy and Jordan Rhodes both technically played for us, in that Andy was registered. Richard and Harry Wright, but Harry never made the grade.

Any others?

I think Jake Forster-Caskey would have done so for Charlton or Brighton.

Not what was asked, but Rory Delap's first goal for Saints was against us.

Alun Armstrong's son Luke is a professional football spedning most of his career in League One and Two - but I don't think we've ever faced him.

Plenty in the academy over the years, but like Harry Wright none that I can think of (aside from Andre) that went on to represent the senior side.

As for opposition, has Jermain Wright's son Drey ever played against us in his Colchester days? Maybe in a pre season friendly or something, I can't remember it though if he has.

Rory never played for Town, I was thinking about which sons who played professionally, whose Dads played for Town, but they did not, and who have ended up playing against us.

Did Johnson play against us before, for Lincoln?

Brennan Johnson was in the Lincoln side in the 1-1 draw in March 2021 (a game a certain Morgan Rogers scored in)

Shame we couldn't have got him on loan that season!

So he's already the second player (as far as I am aware) whos Dad played for Town but he hasn't.

It's a shame Charlie George never played for us in the 70s, his boy Finidi took a bit of stick, but had a few decent games for us.

Still not a son of a town player but a nephew, I think Craig Burley has played against us at Portman Road.

Similar to your Delap one would be Steve Bruce.

Kevin Lisbie's son Kyreece played for Brentford's U21s against Town earlier in the season.

He deserves an award for being older than his father.

Fabian Wilnis's cousins Jeffrey Bruma and Marciano van Homoet both played against Town for Chelsea and Barnsley respectively.

Well...today I've learned Adam Armstrong is not Alun Armstrong's son.

Ever since he appeared on the scene I've thought he was and never thought to question it, and looking at the information available, I've got no idea where I could have got that from.

John Moncur played for us on loan, meanwhile George was linked with us countless times but only ever played against us.

Going the other way round, Jordan Rhodes’ father Andy never played for us, but did register as a reserve goalkeeper whilst on our coaching staff, and whilst neither ever played for us, David Martin was technically an Ipswich player last year whilst his dad Alvin was also a pro.

Also going off an earlier comment, Jake Forster-Caskey definitely played for Charlton U21s against us at Portman’s road, as I recall being amazed by him running the show, before realising he who he was, and that he was only playing in the U21s to regain fitness after a long injury!

Oddly, though, his twin brother Stuart Armstrong who played with Adam at Southampton is Alun's son.

Dalian Atkinson's dad Ron was his manager at Villa rather like Steve and Alex Bruce at Hull.
