It can't be denied that Farage is getting a lot of popular support, the current voting intentions for the next GE have Reform at 34%.

This issue is that he doesn't actually do much work as a MP and never has so why would he do any work as PM.

The Guardian has a good summary today:

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/jul/06/nigel-farage-first-year-reform-

Voting record:

"He has voted about 95 times over the course of the year out of about 250 divisions"

Speaking record:

"Data compiled by campaign group Hope Not Hate found that Farage had also spoken less in parliament than other comparable party leaders – just 45 times"

Grifting:

"Farage is the highest paid MP of this parliament by a long way. He earned at least £970,000 from outside employment ranging from speeches to bringing in £280,000 as brand ambassador for a gold company. In April, he got a 10th job, making £25,000 (AU$52,000) as a commentator for the Rupert Murdoch-backed Sky News Australia, with the MP telling the channel that Britain was “going downhill”.

The portfolio of gigs on top of his role as an MP also includes a £4,000-a-month column for the Daily Telegraph and presenting for GB News, which has paid him more than £330,000 since July."

Constituency Attendance:

"However, he has said he is not doing surgeries for safety reasons – although he had to backtrack on a claim that he was advised not to by parliamentary security advisers. He has also not been turning up to the Clacton town board despite being invited."

However, none of this seems to matter. He's barely doing his job as a MP as he has at least 10 other jobs bringing in nearly 1m GBP a year yet people still think he's the voice of the people and has their interest at heart.

It's hard to know how to counter it when the above doesn't matter. I guess there is still plenty of time for an implosion.

Voting intention seems at odds with who would make the best PM https://yougov.co.uk/politics/articles/52251-who-would-be-the-best-prime-ministe

Agreed, that does seem to make little sense.

Part of the issue here is that the Guardian readership are highly unlikely to vote Reform anyway. Those he appeals to as voters buy in to papers that push the agendas he sings to. Those papers are not reporting on his selfish incompetence or determination to decimate public services and especially the NHS. Whether they would do closer to an election would likely depend on their belief in the electability a Conservative Party that would protect them and their own agenda.

Currently we are so far away from a general election that current voting intention means very little.

He did an interview recently where he said that manifesto pledges were aims not promises. Anyone voting for Reform should prepare themselves to be properly stitched up.

My big hope is he doesn't really want to be PM and will actively look to throw it away if it looks like he has a chance before he writes a book about being screwed and heads to America to retire.

Truly impaired.

I have no doubt that he would quite happily take the PM salary while blaming everyone else for everything going wrong. He wouldn't work as hard as Boris Johnson but would trust his charisma to see him through.

The fact he still takes his EU pension is evidence enough of his greed and lack of integrity, part of why he wants the PM job to secure another one I suspect.

Sometimes I look at the Trump allegations and think, I wouldn’t be surprised if he turns out to be a KGB asset after he’s dead.

Also appointing 19 year olds to run core services at their councils.

One of them defended running child services with the reasoning he was a child recently 😳😂
