1bn valuation in 5 years!? on 15:44 - Jul 9 with 1324 views | _clive_baker_ | Rather begs the question in what world we would realise up to £100m in player sales this summer and stay on course to achieving that. We would have to go some by way of recruitment I'd think to trade to that level and still remain competitive in an increasingly competitive field that is the Championship. Guess its just a bit of a teaser to imply the 'potential' book value of assets. I wouldn't think new owners would look to do that, nor do I think the existing ones will in the meantime.

I guess if someone is going to invest £184m+ it'll be of some comfort to know that £100m in assets are sat on the books to act as a safety net?

Yeah exactly that, it's a key component in how they will get comfortable with the valuation.

1bn valuation in 5 years!? on 15:58 - Jul 9 with 1133 views | JakeITFC | Endless growth of the game drives the valuation rather than any underlying asset appreciation - that is to say all of the teams in the Premier League will be valued at £1bn+ is probably the thesis rather than via anything particularly special that we may or may not do. I guess the problem with that theory is that unlike American sports, a club over here can go down a division or two and make a mockery of the whole thing. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

American owners/investors have long said English clubs are heavily undervalued. That's due to their value as a community asset as well as a commercial asset. Buy a controlling stake at Town for £200m with potential PL riches or a 50% stake in an NFL franchise at an average raise of around $3.2bn. No-brainer!

Exactly, it highlights the how ambitious the owners are. It's very, very exciting.

Agree with the logic but if a dozen US private equity businesses do this then the valuations must decrease as the race to be established heats up.

This isn't a new figure, I gather that has been a target for a while but the timescale has reduced, in part due to the wider market and also due to the club getting promoted to the Premier League sooner than was expected.

I assume the must be the case, as presumably the training ground is fully funded already and PSR prevent us from splurging another £100m+ without commensurate sales income? What do the knowledgeable think...?

1bn valuation in 5 years!? on 16:43 - Jul 9 with 746 views | OldFart71 | Doesn't this all add pressure on MA and KM not only to get the right players in, but then to turn them into a team capable of winning the Championship or promotion at the very least and to establish the club in the Premier League. Whilst totally possible given that without incoming players the squad is very good it's still no walk in the park.

That's football and on their salaries, they should have this pressure imo.
