That was the blueprint for how a lot of teams will approach us this season. 09:32 - Aug 9 with 695 viewsFromReuserWithLove

Try and bully us. Hopefully we will learn to cope with it better than we did last night once up to speed. This is an area where Morsy will be HUGELY missed at this level as a leader with aggression and nous. Only Chaplin seemed up for scrap when he came on which, for me, highlights the mentality shift in the new group.

Morsy gets sent off in that game last night, 100%.

Ironically Chaplin, whilst standing up to the assault by the Brum centre back, probably walks himself into a yellow card, if he goes down when the player makes contact with him, Brum probably go down to 10 men.

Actually I thought Chaplin and Broadhead made a big difference. Nobody else in the team can find space like Broadhead. Trouble is, like last season, we need the other players to spot when he has found space and pass to him.
I understand the £ profit argument with Broadhead if we sell, I also don't know if we did offer him a new deal, but letting him go will be beyond stupid.

Morsy understood the fine lines and wouldn’t have been sent off. Did he ever get sent off for us?

I can understand why Downes would be good signing now.

I thought Broady was fairly ineffective tbh. I think the bigger game changer was the fact that Brum took off all their attacking threats and tried to play for a 1-0, which allowed us to get a foothold in the game

The fact they were unable to beat us, and spent so much of their time trying to nullify our threat is good. Our performance was not good, but I think we would have lost that game in 23/24, mentally we are much stronger than we were 2 years ago.

We won’t come up against much physically stronger defences and midfield in this division this season.

Let the new players bed down in competitive games and we will be fine.

It helped that they came on just as Birmingham were tiring and cramping, there was more space for these guys to exploit than there had been as a result.

I disagree. Mentally we were stronger in 23/24 as we were a team rather than a group of individuals. We may have lost due to quality, but not because of mental strength.

What was Chappers actually booked for?

The argy bargy or the booting of the ball?

I suspect Chappers was booked for kicking the ball away, and it going directly into the crowd.
