Shout out to Greaves 05:13 - Sep 13 with 1556 viewsBlue_Uprising

I thought he had a great game. It was interesting how important he was to supporting the overload high up the pitch on the left. Must be something we have worked on. Ball carries, linking some play high up the pitch and final third overlaps. Good for him as he had a couple of exposed moments in the first few games.

Burgess was important in the last promotion with his raking balls down the line and cross field. Will be fascinating to see how Greaves role develops in an attacking sense. Very different, high risk reward, but maybe gives us options to unlock teams in a new way.

What I've particularly enjoyed, is during the later parts of the game, he obviously gets some freedom to play left side attacking and it really pulls the opposition apart.

Just wish he’d go through players rather than go down easy looking for the cheap foul all the time.

The disallowed goal was absolutely lovely work.

Agreed, thought he was outstanding last night.

Headed everything, gave them nothing and will only get better.

Imagine being a fairly conventional right back/right midfield pairing in an opposition defence when you've got Cajuste bursting forward to keep an eye on, the livewire Philogene or Clarke stepping inside and smashing it past you, while Leif comes flying at you inside or outside at 100 miles an hour, AND now here comes Jacob Greaves with his size and strength and no mean ability on the ball too...

...I'd go 'ome!

One thing I will give him credit for, is he does seem to get hit with some bad tackles, but just gets up and gets on with it.

Sky showed it at a slight angle but didn’t look offside, although tbf I don’t know the criteria that had it been VAR’d in the prem which way it would have been called tbh. Defenders leg was certainly playing him on side.

I think he's probs just leaning over the line of the defender's foot. Shame, as it was a lovely move and finish.

He was class, better than his CB partner last night imo.

He's another who's been harshly judged because people had a sentimental connection to the guy he replaced so any criticism on him is intensified whereas Burgess becomes more and more mythologised.

Him bringing the ball out and joining the attack is definitely a big asset if we can keep working on it as it's definitely a high risk/high reward tactic.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Thought it was his best performance since joining us.

Just on the "mythologising" subject, the double promotion side were bought for relative peanuts whilst are current squad are worth millions of pounds. We'll thank those who got us up for what they did, but there is going to be greater expectations on those who replaced them.
