Darnell Furlong 21:01 - Sep 13 with 2635 views | Chris_ITFC | Brilliant in the air, a noticeable upgrade. We don't have to watch long switches of play landing at the left wingers feet anymore, as our right back loses the flight in the air. 2024/25: Furlong - 68.2% of aerial duels won (Championship rank: 27th*) Johnson - 51.4% of aerial duels won (Premier League rank: 100th) *that's up against 50+ rugged Championship centre backs, too.

Darnell Furlong on 21:17 - Sep 13 with 2426 views | DarkBrandon | His signing seemed to underwhelm the fan base at the time … especially as we were all fearing we might not sign a striker. But he’s started very well, and fits the way McKenna likes to play. It was noticeable how asymmetric our side was yesterday. Davis and Furling have very different profiles. As do Philogene and McAteer. I assume McKenna will keep with the same back four for a while now. It will be fascinating to see if he wants a more balanced attacking unit in the medium term.

Burgess is on 80.8% this season so far, just for reference. I’ve moved on lol, but Swansea got an excellent player for a steal (even tho I’m assuming there was a chunky signing on fee).

He had the best aerial duals won in League one when we signed him. I think he was one of the first data driven purchases. Believe Scott Fraser was also high on the data of creating chances, hence he arrived too.

There was a moment first half where Furlong came forward with the ball, had no passing options, and decided to just keep going as a last resort. It was quite funny to watch his thought process, versus a Davis who just bombs forward at every opportunity.

And yet before the Premiership promotion transfer window he would be the second highest record signing for us at roughly £4m. Our financial world has been updated. Looks a good player.

I think the whole world of football has been, but yes you’re right. We could’ve got 4 Leif Davis for that money a few years ago, so he must be alright.

We are so fortunate that Davis when faced with the opportunity to go back to the PL decided that it didn’t go great for him last time, he wants to get his mojo back, and McKenna is the chap to help him, with that. Rather than pushing for a move that he’d have got.

I think he’s improved significantly from what I’ve seen so far this season. For example, he was high up on this season’s aerial duels stats, and won some key headers on Friday night too. Going forward, he was Leif at his best. Full of energy and enthusiasm, some wicked balls in, pace and stamina to burn.

Think that's why leif was able to be more leif Furlong understood the requirements with ease and tucked in when the ball was over the left side, couldn't see much obviously on the telebox. But at times when briefly utd broke you could see we were well tucked over

I think it had more to do with how Philogene played (tactically, not the goals). Furlong didn’t really do anything tactically that Johnson hasn’t - he just did quite specific things better.

If anything, the right-back that influenced Leif’s game most on Friday wasn’t even Furlong.
