looked half decent first half but how we get cut into two so easily on the counter should scare everyone.

I love us playing from the back but move it quicker. DOS is not half the man Wolf was on the ball.

The lack of urgency in the last 10/15 scares me most. Nothing in the box lots of passes around the back for what, nothing. We are too arrogant at this level especially away from home. You’ve got to fight, scrap and do anything to get points away. It just looks like we turn up an expect to win. Well I hope we are learning quickly that this isn’t the case.

Very frustrating night as they were there for the taking. Hirst cost us big time. Time for pens to be handed over to Sammy if Jack isn’t on the pitch so Hirst can work on his touch.

So much goodwill and progress against Norwich gone just like that. Such a shame. Need 6 points now in the next two.

Did you see that through ball in the second half to Azon. Inch perfect. Wolf was really poor and slow on the ball.

Agree with the scrap and fight bit.

What worries me is that the midfield was way too open tonight. Kept getting overloaded and I'm starting to think just like last season we need a 3 in there.

We were so vulnerable to a switch pass over the top, and kudos to Palmer big time for keeping us in it.

Said it on another thread, what the actual hell is going on with our set pieces??

The result hinged on that two minutes before half time. Hirst tucks away that penalty and we goi in at halftime with a deserved 1-0 lead. A minute later we score a bizarre own goal. We never recovered our confidence after that.

Neither did our support. We were bloody quiet from the penalty miss until Dara scored our our goal. The Boro fans, however, were the best I’ve encountered this season. Like their team they were well up for it.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

Also played in Leif, for him to cross for the handball shout. O Shea can pass a ball very well for a centre half.

He also carried it foward and beat his man a couple of times. O Shea ability on the ball is not the issue.

For me it’s midfield when we beat the press it is never centrally, Morsy and Mass would find the gaps receive ball on half turn and go foward this doesn’t happen, makes us very one dimensional

The only Muff in Town.

I was going to say similar. I loved Woolfy playing for us, but there were threads on here discussing the 'la pausa' tactic, and how he would literally just stand with the ball at his feet, waiting for the movement to create space. This idea that he was some all action, rapid ball player is just a nonsense.

Yes O'Shea stands out as likely out best player and only scorer. His passing was excellent.

It is rather puzzling, if anything we're seeing exactly why KM felt Oshea was the step up from Wolfy as he does the same job with the ball but has that ability to find the direct ball opportunities, not something that I would say was Wolfys game.

I like Oshea, he's our CB for a good few years now, the best partner for him however is still questionnable, however I still think it's Greaves.

I'm also favouring Greaves. We look more balanced, he is much more comfortable with the ball, and he wins everything in the air.

He's made mistakes, clearly, but he's not had a game like Kipre did last night.

I’m less concerned with our attacking now - we are right up there in goals scored and xg.

For me the issue is at the back - we have one clean sheet so far, absolutely cannot rely on them to grind out a 1-0 win, we are near the top of the table for goals, much lower on points. We just look (like last season) so fragile and error prone. Far too many hospital passes and half hearted challenges.

Derby for example offered very little threat going forwards but we made some pretty basic errors. Seems no matter who plays there we leak goals. Top teams need to be able to get a goal and hold a lead and we simply haven’t done that.

Personally I would favour a 4-3-3 with Nunez slightly in advance of a proper 2 man pivot. Cajuste just cannot cover behind Leif in the same way Luongo did, just does not have the legs. Poor Mats is then pulled in all directions as Jens has often gone missing. We need a more solid line up away as the home teams come at us more and are exposing us badly. At home we get away with our formation as teams are generally more defensive-minded and more interested in keeping their shape than flooding forward.
