The statement and lack of communications today so far 13:41 - Mar 25 with 1153 viewsbluebud

The club could just use yesterdays statement as its final word but is that enough? I don't think so what with the extra information thats come out since and general fan feeling, I'd hope that there's more.

Though maybe the Club are having an investigation or disciplinary procedures thus silence so far today.

Will this all end up with a video message from Ed Sheeran somehow?

I'm definitely not one looking for a lynching of Ashton/whoever else, and talk of people losing jobs is OTT, but i think an acknowledgement that they misjudged and it has upset support would be a good idea.

To be honest, I won't personally call for it but I don't think talk of people losing jobs is OTT at all.

The damage to our brand and the club's relationship with it's supporters (and presumably other stakeholders) is absolutely massive and entirely due to some extremely poor decision making.

To say nothing of the appallingly sub-par response to the crisis.

This

I agree to an extent, but by the same token, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a mutual agreement in the very near future, if you get my drift.

This has been a significant SNAFU.

The longer this goes on without an explanation, apology and distancing, the more I suspect that one of the major shareholders was behind it.

If reform were invited there surely couldn't be many staff that have the authority. to do so?

Mark Ashtons job isn't a normal job. It's not like calling for a cashier to be sacked from tesco for a mistake. He's very highly paid for his position and as the public face of the higher-ups at the club, the buck stops with him.

For me, he should go.

Ridiculous call.

If one of his staff has set this up, or even, as has been theorised, it originated with Terry Butcher, I can't see how you could hold Ashton directly accountable.

We don't know enough yet, and the club should plug that gap with an open and transparent statement asap.

Why would US-based investors meddle in such a way when their entire time here has been focused on staying in the background and doing nothing but pump money into the club. Why would they now want to light the blue touch paper with a known c**t such as Farage?

Exactly. It seems like the club are perfectly comfortable with what has happened and there will therefore be no apology. Ashton loves to talk about the emails he gets from fans, so he'll probably tell us about how he's had so many supporters backing the club on this matter.

he doesn't get a kick at 3pm either, but he's still responsible and accountable for what happens there to.

What your employees/subordinates do is a reflection on you as a leader of an organisation. He's either complicit in it happening, or inept that he allowed it to occur with out his knowledge.

Even it was him, you want someone to go for hosting someone who you don’t politically agree with. If they had hosted Polanski, you wouldn’t be saying ‘he should go’

You’re wanting him to go because it’s Reform and Farage to which you disagree with not the fact that it’s a political party of any sort.

I don't want any political party to use Ipswich Town to further their campaign for election.

The fallout of having Polanski would be very different to the fallout from Farage, but just as unwelcome.

Why are people repeatedly referring to a non-existent visit by Zac Polanski? It would never happen, and nobody has ever suggested it should.

Though a club source told talksport that Kemi Badenoch has booked something at PR - according to Simon Jordan. So why not Zac Polanski or anyone else for that matter? In theory we'd have to extend the same privileges, videos and all :-/

If it was the Director of Comms or someone at that level, the club would have sacked them by now. It's the time that is being taken, this is more complicated as it is one of the shareholders. Which does include Mr Ashton by the way. But the 3 Lions (Mark Detmer, Berke Bakay and Brett Johnson) are more likely in my view, as they are capitalists, and I'm guessing are Trump supporters. And that would be the link to Farage. Time will tell.

Edit: when one of the owners drops a b0llock, who is there to tell them off? It needs a shareholders emergency meeting. They are busy people, they will want to assess how serious it is, how much damage has been done, and whether they need to jettison someone to restore the club reputation. All of that will take a bit of time, which is what we are now seeing.
