Appeared to me like he lacked sharpness but still played some nice through balls.

He'll need to be quicker at decision making in the PL if we're going to be more of a counter attacking team.

Poll: What will be announced first?

Was he a significant downgrade to Maeda when coming on for him tonight?

Some lovely balls in the last 20+’minutes I saw. He still wanted to take on 4 players on his own of course, but I doubt that’ll ever change.

Sharpness obviously isn’t there with any of them, but it’ll come. It’s hard to believe this lot will look like a good impression of a PL team in less than 3 weeks, yet it’ll come together pretty quickly. Whether it’ll be enough without reinforcements I’m not sure, but I hope/expect we’ll be ready to give Sunderland a game.

Poll: Escaped Goat of the day. Who’s it going to be?

I would say yes to be honest particularly as Maeda was new to us. He Maeda looks a lot more secure in the ball and a huge upgrade off the ball.

Jack Clarke is a last 20 minute man at Prem level. I would keep him this year but he will have to really take his overall game up two levels to play prem football beyond. He has some special tools but he's too old to look at raw as he does still. Looks like a really talented 18 year old still.

But can't help but like him and always want him to do well. When he is really on it like Cov away and Southampton last season he's great to watch. But you never know what's going to happen. Tread on the ball or beat 3 men.

yes as everyone has put looked well off it tonight. Was bewildered when he got the ball on the edge of the box with all the free time in the world only to look around for a pass back then to hoof it into the stands.

Really needs to be playing like JC against Saints end of last season, was a man driven that night to play in the PL and really saw the quality he has. I hope he can do it again for his sake at least.

Delicious curling pass with the outside of his boot to Hirst.

Not so delicious that shot he couldn't manage to wrap his foot around...

Still played well though

For me, Jack Clarke is a player the less you restrict the way he wants to play, the better you see from him. Reminds me of Grealish Aston Villa.

I wasn't convinced he quite fitted in under McKenna, but he had a decent input last season. Like Philogene, falls into the category of being someone who is capable of performing above Championship standard, but does not quite have an effect in the Prem.

I would not be too surprised if he was a late mover this window to a Championship side that will be going for automatic promotion, like a West Ham, Southampton, Middlesbrough etc, but this does depend on what options we have ourselves.

Poll: If selling Jackson meant getting in a wide man, would you be happy with Garbutt?

If we sign Lauriente from Sassuolo I can definitely see JC being put up for sale. Not entirely convinced that he’s going to cut in this time round in the prem. who knows

I thought he was OK actually....

I thought he was fine, and put through some nice balls.

I also think he worked well with Johnson who played well both offensively and defensively. Indeed, the system seemed to suit him well with his having more scope to advance forward.

But obviously Le Havre are a different kettle of fish to most Premier League teams.
