Palacios always starts central midfield left side. Lukic and Florentino were also most often in the left sided berth. But I think our ex-Fulham and ex-Burnley players are as comfortable on the right.
Palacios fitness came good at the end of last season in a good run of games for Bayer, but I reckon we’ll manage the load of our mega star accordingly, with our other centre mids getting good game time.
I had assumed Florentino would lose out to Lukic in making way for Palacios - but perhaps with Palacios having more forward bias than Lukic, it will be our Serb to be on the bench? Having said that Lukic seems a leader you want on the pitch, and was excellent against Sunderland.
Either way all very exiting, and Matusiwa may well also claim that right defensive berth when fully fit. We’ll need depth, as yellow and injuries are going to be a factor for sure.
Below is the league campaign stats summary from our new central midfield three, Lukic and Florentino were not always selected, Palacios wasn’t always available. But crucially Palacios was fit, started and played 90mins (there was one 81mins) for Bayern’s last EIGHT games:
Palacios (Bayer Leverkeusen - 34 games as a team)
Squad: 19, Starting eleven: 12, Substitutions on: 6, On the bench: 1, Suspended: 0, Injured: 15, Absence: 0
Florentino (Burnley - 38 Prem games as a team):
Squad: 35, Starting eleven: 25, Substitutions on: 6, On the bench: 4, Suspended: 0, Injured: 0, Absence: 0
Lukic (Fulham - 38 prem games as a team):
Squad: 29, Starting eleven: 20, Substitutions on: 6, On the bench: 3, Suspended: 1, Injured: 7, Absence: 0 |  |

I think the playing time will eventually be quite evenly spread between Palacios, Florentino and Lukic - depending on availability and who we are playing etc. Nunez and Matusiwa will get minutes every now and then but probably not very many. |  |

We’re not really playing them side by side though so I’m not sure it’s too relevant. The six is playing very deep and covering Davis when he goes forward, whereas the eight is playing further up and moving more freely in the centre circle area. |  | | |

Given Azor won't be fully fit for a little while anyway you'd be surprised to see much of him before Christmas. Decent backup though and I'm sure he'll have a good attitude in training and push for minutes as much as possible. |  | | |

Away from home it wouldn't surprise me at all to see 3-5-2. Which would mean 3 across the middle. Plenty of game time for everyone. |  | | |

You have to feel a bit sorry for those two but we need to be ruthless to stay in the league.
The midfield and CF have been issues if we sign Palacios and Abraham it will improve things hugely.
Incredible we are in the prem league and having options like this plus Maeada/Clark/Philly etc in one position. |  |

As stated below I think Matusiwa could well be the 3rd choice central mid; and let’s face it Lukic and Palacios will have stints unavailable
Azor still has a role.
And maybe Nunez starts to push for the 10 spot?

Lukic will almost certainly be the left sided one as he's the more defensive and will be asked to cover for Davis quite a bit. I expect Palacios will have a bit more license to get forward. |  |
