On a related topic I was at a Crocodile centre in Queensland once and a guy asked the keeper if a great white fought a big salty who would win and the keeper swore blind in a square go the croc would win. Once it bit the shark it would be over, whereas the shark's bit would not be powerful enough to penetrate the croc to do it enough damage.

Wouldn't it be great if David Attenborough could create that in a large tank for an episode of Blue Planet.
I remember watching an episode of QI in which this topic sort of cropped up. By all accounts during the American gold rush life was quite tedious but some gold prospectors had a lot of money so they used to import dangerous animals and make them fight.
If I remember correctly the bear would often win when pitted against a tiger or lion because their swipe could easily crush a lions skull which is quite soft.
