Given how much we spent to bring in Nolan and Nsiala, is Nolan any better than Kevin Bru ? Both are similar players in my opinion, neat and tidy on the ball, but lacking the incision and quality to offer much at this level in the final third. Nolan, like Bru is also a little lightweight and not fantastic in terms of his positioning out of play.
Personally, I don’t he’ll last long under Lambert with the likes of Dozzell and Downes going from strength to strength. It will be interesting to see if he can ever get Huws and Bishop out on the pitch again, as they will take us to a new level. [Post edited 27 Oct 2018 12:45]

Nope.
But perhaps with the right manager and momentum he could be.
Our play off season had a midfield that was mainly Anderson/Tabb/Hunt/Bru/Skuse.
In theory that shouldn’t be anywhere near the top 6, but we had a good thing going - that’s more important. |  |

Nolan came on to good affect v Brentford and scored a peach v Brum, so there is a player there. Struggles to impose himself in games and seems to get caught in possession or need more time on the ball and then struggles to provide the link play. So he has a lot to do.
I suspect PL will draw a line in the sand and start again. We have been a mess with sides and formations changed too frequently for new players to get acquainted and prove themselves. | | | |

Fans of Shrewsbury / Grimsby have said much the same to us. Nolan was thought to be of reasonable Championship quality, but no more than that. We have had no midfield worthy of the name for years.
Even, Dozzell, whom I love to watch on the ball and who has shown that great vision he has to pick a pass no-one else would see, could, at the moment be also described as lightweight. The bigger older pros of QPR brushed him aside. Nolan is older, of course, but might come good - but he, and/or Andre need pairing with the sort of midfield battler we don't possess. | |

Bru was either good or awful. Sadly, more of the latter.
I’m not sure Nolan has been good at all yet. One average performance.

There's a good player in there, he needs a little time and support to step up.
Agree about Bish and Huws though. Their continued injury problems are frankly depressing for them and us fans. Especially Teddy.
