I feel that the use of the word black when described a bad event like a massacre or something really irritating like an artificially inspired commercial non event is offensive

Why can't it Piers Morgan Day - far more suitable a term

Infanticide - killing a small child
Regicide - killing a king
Countryside - killing Piers Morgan.

It seems the 'Black Friday' shopping description comes from a day of traffic gridlock in Philidelphia back in the 1960s.

I thought it might be an accounting term although thought it was weird as my account has never been in a positive after the day so should be called red Friday really as just sucks people in to buy crap they don't need, most at pre inflated prices prior to the day ironically enough.

Is 'Man Friday' sexist?

If so, Daniel Defoe should be ashamed of himself... or are you telling me times have changed since 1719?*

* that question goes to Factual.

Amongst all the deaths, murders and financial collapses, the Aladdin and Toy Story ones seem little incongruous.

Gender Fluid Friday wouldn't fit on the billboards, otherwise they'd have used it of course. The original book had Man Friday being welcomed with open arms into the UK without a visa, and then being offered gender reassignment free on the NHS. As I understand it, one of the editors asked for that chapter to be removed as there was a feeling the UK public hadn't been primed enough to react with the significant outrage the plot line was aimed at generating.

True story that. I overheard someone talking about it at Copdock Tescos.

I always thought it was the last Friday before Christmas when everyone hit the town.

I don't think I've ever engaged with this new version - never looked for 'bargains', never bought anything in a BF sale. I tend to buy things when I need them rather when someone tells me I should. Call me old fashioned and all that.
