Holy's distribution was better, players gave him options - very often he had at least two players short, and another showing in midfield - we also managed to get the ball out of tight defensive situations much more comfortably than usual, again because teammates were showing for the ball - though as others have said, might not be so easy against better sides. |  |

And we have shown that we can play OK again teams that don't close us down...the acid test comes when a team does. |  |

That's the thing, it doesn't have to be played out from the back at every opportunity otherwise teams will work us out quickly, being able to knock it long is also a very good alternative, just to keep the opposition honest. Passing it sideways and backwards just gives the opposition time to get back in their positions, which stops any momentum we did have to be lost and that has been a criticism under PL's reign. We pass it at times just for the sake of it without it being purposeful. |  |
