Is using all the subs up. It was a gamble but it was fair enough to do it, we needed to change things. The issue was the changes he made were the wrong ones not the fact he used the subs up

I think what we saw yesterday was more evidence of ME taking an interest in first team affairs. We've already been how he's stopped playing Lambingo after Evans told him over the summer to knock it off and now he's clearly been told he actually needs to do his job and make changes if the game is running away from us.

The main issue with his subs yesterday was Judge when we clearly needed Jackson on to get in behind a slow and high backline. But he's clearly been itching to shoehorn Judge in for ages now.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Thought you were a half decent manager?

Basics, don’t use all your subs up by the 55th minute, especially when you are not losing the game or chasing the game.

He got that wrong yesterday, no need for the Judge for Sears (unless of injury)

In an ideal world you wouldn't but we were a shambles and needed to gamble on change. It is one of those that happens a lot but looks bad in hindsight occasionally

Oh come on now. He's been itching to shoe horn in Judge for ages. He'll probably start against Accrington.

It looked like a pretty bad call at the time as well, in all fairness.

He has been that way for Judge throughout, considering how much he thinks of him you would think he would do more to build the team for him

He probably would, if he was competent.

I disagree - you’d test the Downes substitution and see whether that worked; if the game is still out of control then make the third. If the first hadn’t been enforced in the 22nd minute then fine but it was.

As you say Judge over Jackson or Lankester was baffling anyway.

So the one thing pretty much everyone else condemns PL for (using up the 3rd sub unneccesarily in the 55th minute, instead of saving him in case of another injury over the remaining 35+ minutes) - is something you excuse him for.

No wonder so many people on here regard you as being contrarian just for the sake of it.

No...dont think he should have made two at the same time. Not sure that ever works to be honest. Too much disruption to the team . He should have made one change and the right one he did make was the Downes for Bishop one. Bishop was lost in that game. If he then had one change up his sleeve that could counter any further injury...which came to pass. It's nothing to do with hindsight...just good planning and tactics.

God forbid Alan Judge plays a game of football.

He's done very little to deserve it. Even less than Toto and Wilson.

Hmm. All three have played well in the early games of the season but they don't deserve to be playing.

I'll leave the debate there then because you're clearly just on the wind up.

Downes for Bishop was the right call and ought to have been sufficient to get a bit of control back in midfield had Downes not got injured. Judge for Sears made no sense. We should have waited for at least another 15 minutes to see how Downes could influence the game before using our last sub, which should have been Lankester or Jackson. As it transpired it would have been Huws for Downes but at least we'd have had 11 men and a chance of winning the game.
