National lockdown question 12:12 - Oct 31 with 843 viewsVic

I exchanged on a house 3 weeks ago with completion And move scheduled for next Friday. Do we know if we’ll be able to proceed as planned? What happened last time?

A few friends of mine completed (with a few minor delays) during the first national lockdown. So I'm guessing you'll be fine so long as you're not moving in/out of a Tier 3 zone.

I don't get what could stop you? People were allowed to work away from the home if they had to, so the removal men shouldn't have a problem.

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

Not quite as completed as yours, but I was thinking the same earlier. Our house is sold to first time buyers and we’ve had an offer accepted on a house where the current people are moving in to an empty bungalow, so we’ve got a relatively short chain, but I wonder with this proposed lockdown how that will affect things.

Similar situation to your good selves, we're hoping to get moved in January, and subject to surveys, are hoping everything is done and dusted by then.
I can't imagine things will be quite as "total" if/when the proposed lockdown takes place, though who really knows with this lot.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

That’s good to hear. Presumably the current tiers will be redundant if we go for national lockdown.

Similar situation here - we sent back contracts this week as the middle in a chain of 3, so had anticipating a completion date in Nov

As others have posted I understand people moved during the first lockdown so presumably will carry on through this one, although may depend on whether anyone in the chain has cold feet. Given this lockdown looks to have a theoretical end date I wouldn’t be surprised if ours gets scheduled for December now

The other factor is whether removal firms will still operate. I thought I remembered last time that they didn’t, but from what you and footers have said, thankfully looks like I was wrong on that.

First time around, there was definitely an exception for travel under moving or helping someone to move home. This obviously helps in the physical aspect of moving but no idea how it would affect other services (surveys, utilities, etc).
