M.E to Sell up in the summer? IF league 1 20:33 - Feb 3 with 1839 views | chrismakin | With the impending salary cap causing even more issues for ITFC in the summer, the need to pretty much trim the majority of the squad, loads out of contract etc too. And lack of movement regarding Lambert as manager Could it be, that Evans didn't want to finance Lambert being sacked, finance a new manager with Town more than likely staying in league 1 this season. We know Evans was desperate to get into prem, didn't happen, desperate to get into championship.. not happening. Could it be that he will give up and finally sell up this summer I can't think of any other reason WHY lambert has not been sacked, yet he's been supported with these new signings. It's not like Lambert has shown any hint of actually being successful since he's been here. I kinda see it as a "one last shot" type of thing.

I know, but I just don't see any logic of sticking with Lambert whilst spending a fair bit on some loans. it's all rather odd

My guess is that there's no break clause until the summer and sacking him now would be as expensive as the loans so Evans has taken what is effectively a risk free gamble to see if Lambert can get us up. I would guess the break clause is if we don't get promoted but I am purely speculating. Of course many of us would rather not have the loans and just sacked him. A new manager could still get us up with the squad.

You'd think so but I see lots of other clubs with suitors, even total basket cases like Wigan. What quality these owners would be is a whole different issue of course! At the moment, I blame Lambert for our dismal position, I think the squad is easily good enough to get back to Champ but it's poorly coached, motivated, setup and used. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

There will be buyers for a debt free Town but with the club now marooned in League 1 & an inability to buy your way out, Town's value will have fallen. Evans doesn't seem to like crystallising his losses (see Donacien) so I doubt Town will be sold any time soon. [Post edited 4 Feb 2021 15:00]

The trouble is he can sell without out a buyer and who is going to buy a league one club like us.

I suspect what he considers a sensible offer would be the sticking point. I think he's dismissed some interest already he considered it too low (if I remember correctly). He's lost a lot of money and wiped more off our value, but he's not going to find anyone prepared to even partially compensate him for that.

Yes that’s the issue. I suspect ME values us as a championship club when any new buyer would want to pay price of a league one club as it would be to risky to pay the price ME values. The longer it goes on I could see him excepting an offer under the lines off an upfront fee with some sort of agreement that he would get a windfall if we were to get promoted to PL in X number of years.

Sacked! A word used in connection with a failing football manager, but football managers are never sacked are they. In any other industry in the world if you are not meeting your objectives you are performance managed and if no improvement is made you are usually sacked due to poor performance. That means you might receive some payment for any holidays owed pro rata but that is it. So you are left out in the big wide world with no income. A football manager however can pretty much turn a football club into a disaster area, say what he likes about fans, players, media, owner and keep his job (in this case) or walk away with millions of pounds. In fact for the wrong sort of manager it would actually pay to be “sacked” on a regular basis, you’re onto a winner. [Post edited 4 Feb 2021 14:35]
