Oh dear da yoof are laughing at him already! on 10:21 - Feb 4 by m14_blue
Darren Grimes, Tom Harwood and their ilk all shared this ages ago.
A good rule of thumb is that, if people like that think something is great, it probably isn’t.
"Labours red turn blue".
Highlighted in one line why Labour will struggle to win the next election. It's just an ongoing internal struggle rather than any broad church which is claimed. Both "sides" of the party can't relate to one another or agree on pretty much anything.

She showed me obviously! Hence my mention of yoof in the thread title!
Yeah, I just meant if she found it funny then something’s gone wrong, sorry it’s an inbetweeners quote and didn’t 100% work in context. (You’re probably too old for that too..?)

Watched it but too old to remember the detail!

The people behind all these attacks on Starmer are the same people who were leading the attacks on Corbyn.
Only this time, it’s the left acting as useful idiots for them rather than many centrists.
It’s painfully obvious. Labour tears itself apart because the leader isn’t perfect and the only winners are the corrupt, laughably incompetent, worst government in history, Tory party.

Seems that way looking at them from the outside. Bunch of nutters - we need an effective opposition and this internal power struggle doesn't help.

Indeed, they spend so much time fighting amongst themselves.
If we had a PR system, they would be able to split into two parties, a socialist one and centrist one.
The other millstone for Labour is the fact that unemployment has always been higher after a labour government that at the start. Trust in their economic competence is weak.

Uppie for the split / PR issue.
Although strictly true, I think the unemployment position is a tad unfair as global economic cycles have driven the bigger changes. We could also rightly say that unemployment levels under Labour have never reached the heights seen under the Tories. Not that that won't stop people just believing the spin from their side. A good case of the need for the public to look beyond the headlines and try to understand what's happened.

This is the problem when you try to have a party based on principles, people can't agree what those principles should be and go off in a strop. That's why the Tories tend to be so successful, all they're interested in is keeping power and ensuring that they and their mates maintain their power and wealth. It makes things much simpler for them.

Problem seems to be that large chunks of the media point up Labour looking bad over divisiveness, while revelling in Conservative splits. Probably because they're owned by people who back the wealth-friendly policies of those Tory hardline factions.

Indeed. There have only been six Labour administrations (MacDonald I, MacDonald II, Attlee, Wilson I, Wilson II/Callaghan and Blair/Brown).
Of those, MacDonald II was hit by the Great Depression, Attlee was during post-War Austerity, Wilson II/Callaghan was hit by the global Oil Crisis and Blair/Brown came to an end in the aftermath of 2008. None of those factors was solely - even primarily - caused by UK government action, let alone specifically the Labour Party.
