Blackpool fans view of match 23:50 - Feb 6 with 1856 views | unstableblue | Went on Blackpool forum They were really bullish ahead of the game, expecting it as a chance to break their PR hoodoo. ‘First half thought we were a match for them, and we were unlucky to go a goal down. but it was a well taken goal and played on the vulnerabilities that we have at left back, and to some extent thorniley who are often turned by strikers and wingers. second half they came out with much more bite to them in midfield and they were pressing us high up the pitch. i think this Ipswich side is vastly superior to the one that we played at Bloomers earlier in the season, and in the second half we did much the same as we did previously in that we let them dictate the pace and constantly played square and long without a great deal of movement. Gabriels limitations defensively were shown up again today, and like with Northampton we missed Gary Madine bullying their centre halves who genuinely didnt look very good. Thorniley was turned a dozen or more times, and we looked vulnerable to me on both of our wings. Stewrt looked tired at about 70 minute as did Dougall thought we might go all out with a front four - nothing to lose, Kaikai, Simms, Yates, and Mitchell up front with Virtue dropping a bit deeper maybe.” “ There's no point sugar coating this, we were absolutely dire in that second half with no redeeming features. Totally outclassed by Ipswich and we were very fortunate the margin was only two goals. Overall, the only players to come out with any credit were Ekpiteta and Gabriel who is clearly a very good player and we'd do well to sign him in the summer. The rest were poor.” “The change in formation and complete lack of effort to change the game even when we were 2 - 0 down is baffling. 3 subs with 10 minutes to go at 2 - 0 down just sums it up, this game has left me the most pissed off thus far this season (in fact Doncaster might have been worse). Ipswich looked absolutely there for the taking in that first half and we just threw it away, should never have lost 2 nil to that lot.” They’re pretty much blaming the manager; and are very p!seed at him in general Also not a positive consensus on Mick Mills punditry!: “Imagine having to listen to Mick Mills every game? Like listening to a bedtime story Zzzzzzzzzzzz“

They weren’t convinced by Wolf/McGuiness - have a point, and perhaps another false dawn, once those two youngsters go against better attackers Although Downes deep will make us more solid

Give it a rest. It's not dire. Don't be a fanny.

Maybe dire is a harsh word to use, but it's very rare that I think it's good or enjoyable. Nothing personal and I don't want to jump on the bandwagon of slating Brenner, I just think, especially when paired with MM, it's fairly dull stuff. Funnily enough I do quite enjoy listening to Brenner pre and post match, discussing team selection and result etc, and the general job he does reporting on the club is very good.

I mean, he has to commentate on us. We don't exactly give the poor bloke much to work with! Something else I've thought since last April- a commentator's job must be made so much harder by there not being a crowd there. There's just no energy for them to bounce off.

Generally, the commentary reflects what the commentators are watching. It's dull, mostly because we mostly play very dull football. There's only so many times you can can say 'and that's another sideways pass across the backline' without repeating yourself. [Post edited 7 Feb 2021 0:56]

I presume like Brenner and Radio Suffolk, their local radio commentators aren't travelling to the away matches, so the only commentary available is the home commentary.

Fair points! Personally I don't think Brenner's commentary or general enthusiasm has changed all that much since there's been no crowd though.
