It's on now. Just watched Lulu destroying Mr. Tambourine Man. The Byrds version was by far the best and it got a UK no. 1. Lulu's version didn't, so why play it.
I think whoever put this together hates Dylan so has picked the worst covers.
Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?
Do like the Byrds version of Mr Tambourine man mind.
I agree that they are great Dylan covers but when it comes to the options you cannot ignore Odetta. Not sure if this counts as a cover though as apparently Odetta released the song a couple of months before Dylan:

A number of songs (although Mr Tambourine Man wasn't one of them) were from the legendary Basement Tapes, and sent round to record companies for possible recording by other artists before any release by Dylan. Two prime examples are Quinn The Eskimo (Dylan's only recorded performance is a live one from the Isle of Wight Festival in 1969 or 70), and Wheel's On Fire. The Julie Driscoll/Brian Auger version of the latter was released even before The Band's version on Music From Big Pink. A version with Dylan singing it didn't appear until the Basement Tapes was released in 1975.

Think the story's similar with this. I don't think Dylan recorded an official version until after a number of other artists had put out their take.
