Calling 2 games "a lot" is re-defining the English language.

Sigh. With a squad of unfit flip-flops that weren't his own, a clueless owner who didn't care, and a "support" structure that was unfit for purpose (fitness coach working remotely from 400 miles away etc. etc. etc.).

Been through all that so many times now.

But football is about RESULTS. Nothing else. When people look back at his ipswich record they won't go 'Oh those games don't count.'

I hope he succeeds. But you can recognise the pattern. And you judge accordingly. Faith is great. But blind faith not so much. Cook said as much in his last interview if you listen to it back.

So like I asked the others

Are you saying Cook out?

If not, what is the point you are putting across?

Fine, you keep on ignoring the fact that we've undergone a seachange over the summer.

For myself I'm happy to recognise the reality & keep on backing our manager in these very, very early days of him having his own squad (*edit - which isn't even complete yet*), cheers 👍

No. Not Cook out.

I've not been an outer for any of our previous managers.

Im just accepting the pattern.

My OP if you read it is more an observation about us as fans rather than our managers. We give them this sort of blind faith and then turn on them. Neither Pole of that behaviour is particularly healthy. and that's down to us the fans, not the managers.

I think for now, PC is entrenched. He's bought in all these players. if you boot him you'd probably have a new guy come in and demand yet another clearout. it would be disastrous.

And that's what we'll be looking at if Cook continues to fail. Ashton will cut him adrift quicker than you can say 'arun towards adversity' and we be in a proper mess. So he HAS to succeed.

A succinct and accurate assessment.

You could add in the changes of ownership since Sheepy destroyed the club....

Consumate international billionaire businesman, Marcus Evans who was nowhere to be seen buys the club for peanuts and is welcomed with open arms..... until he remains unseen - and doesnt appear to have very much money at all

Dynamic trio 'The Three Lions' are welcomed with open arms despite not not being seen and not actually owning the club and each having two thirds of the club less than 'thank God he's gone' Marcus Evans.....

But saying supporters have blind faith is wrong. Our jobs as a supporter is to support the club, that includes manager, players and staff.

Just because it didn't turn out great with previous managers.. does that mean we should never trust a manager again?

If you think that’s bad, I remember when we gave the worst abuse to a manager who kept us in midtable of the Championship on a bottom-6 budget and added millions to the value of the squad ...

Everything has been projection and self-deception ever since.

Having said that, we need to give Cook time. He didn’t have the Midas touch when he came in but this is now a totally new team and squad. I won’t get carried away while results aren’t coming but neither will I get carried away if he wins the next three or four on the bounce. We’re looking for a much stronger team to build and develop than we’ve had for the past 3 years, and the sort of team that can last the distance.

Nothing wrong with trusting the manager.

I trust the manager. But equally I won't hold him above criticism.

For some he can do no wrong. And that's not healthy, because no one can meet those expectations.

True but on the current sample size, I’m not sure what Cook is doing wrong except not winning a couple of games we could have won.

If this was a continuation of last season and Cook still wasn’t getting a tune out of those same players then there’d be a lot to discuss.

But no-one (unless I've missed something) has said that they "hold him above criticism", let alone that "he can do no wrong"

They might not have said it but there are plenty on here who jump on the first word of perceived criticism they see
