MK Dons have had loads of changes over the summer 09:27 - Aug 18 with 1350 viewsCopfordBlue

A new manager, at least a a dozen new players joining and a similar number leaving. To
my mind this negates any post-match excuses about gelling, players settling in etc because both clubs are in the same position. In our favour is that we are at home, Cook has been here a while now (their manager joined a few weeks ago) and we have spent far more on supposedly better quality players than they have.

I was optimistic after the first home game despite only drawing. We all knew it would take time to reach our potential. The defeats against Newport and Burton didn’t concern me too much either because I felt we did ok and on another day would have won them both. The second half last night was shocking though. As much as I want to give him time, Cook’s post-match interviews are really starting to grate.

No excuses Saturday. We have a decent squad and they need to start delivering now.

Cook is the one who needs to start delivering.

We seemed totally unprepared to deal with the long throws into the box. The throws were similar to those Kenlock delivers but since he is in the bomber squad I doubt he was involved in pre match training.

MK Dons are going to give us a good hiding on Saturday unless our team are better prepared.

I think MK Dons are going to be very tough, and will go for us hard on 10:07 - Aug 18 with 1181 viewsunstableblue

Yes they have 9 new players:

In terms of new signings, Tennai Watson will Don number 2 this season while Scott Twine and Mo Eisa will be number 9 and number 11 respectively. Meanwhile, Josh Martin is 14, Aden Baldwin is 15 and Ethan Robson is 17. Strikers Troy Parrott and Max Watters are numbers 20 and 36 respectively. Franco Ravizzoli is number 23

I would say that its not quite the complete refresh of the team we are undergoing, 5 of whom started on Tuesday, less before.

MK Dons who beat Charlton: Fisher, Jules, O’Hora, Darling, O’Riley, Twine (Boateng 90+2), Eisa, Baldwin (Watson 62), Robson, Parrott, Harvie (Lewington 46).

I think they are going to come at us, with the goal of getting the jitters into the crowd and the team, and that frankly is going to work!! very nervous myself about this one.

It will be one of the only games where we won't probably dominate possession this season too.

Will that suit us, because so far without the ball we have looked hopeless.

Totally agree. Can’t keep using the we have a new team excuse. We’ve got one points against two recently promoted sides. And just to add Morecambe signed 17 players according to transfer market site. Should be brushing teams like Morecambe/Cheltenham aside. It’s embarrassing really. I think we still have to give it 10 games before judging massively. There is good signs there but of course the results the only thing that matters. Still think the tide will change you have to look at Blackpool last year for example.
Win our two home games and the 2 defeats so far this season are soon forgotten (well by me anyway)

Portsmouth also had large scale change and appointed a new manager around the same time as us. Technically it was after because Cowley was temporary for a long time. We laughed at them when we kept taking their 1st choice targets and when we unsettled their squad by not signing their players. They have 3 wins from 3, that comes down to good management

People keep mentioning we have a new team, forget the new team, this virtually a new squad

It's clearly going to take time for players to form understandings across the pitch, Cook doesn't even know what his best side is as of yet

There's some very talented players in the line up but obvious rustiness as players get used to one another, it's no surprise we are going to get caught out by settled sides who know what they are doing

From the football I have seen, we move and keep the ball better, there's a few hints of what may come

If you look at Cook's sides of the past, they tend to finish strongly as they build and develop. We have had the opposite problem in recent years, starting like a train and then tailing off as other side's improve.

Blackpool started poorly last season, it's how we develop over the course of the season that matters.

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!
