Baggott could be off. That would be a real shame if so.
One thing that mildly concerns me with these Yanks is the academy and a pathway for our young players. There’s only going to be Woolf in the first team squad and he’s probably going to struggle for minutes soon enough.

The EADT article said Town told them he wasn’t for sale.

Cook rates him highly, I know that much. He wanted to give him a game at the end of last season.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

Sounds like lots of people rate him which is the problem! There been speculation about him since he played his first game.

Barnsley interested, Town no desire to sell.

Yeah, but he could have left for compo rather than sign a contract here. Not sure the player will be in any rush to leave.

I, too, don't like to see the Academy downgraded.

However, can also see an argument of "tools for a specific job". We need an instant team to get us out of this division ASAP, no time this season to let youngsters develop in action during League games, with the uncertainty over whether or not they will flourish.

Thus the Youth get loaned out, a few sold and the rest consigned to the bench/EFL Trophy/U23s. Sad, but hopefully only a short-term expediency.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

A risk though, that it may stay like this.

A drive to then get out of the Championship and then stay in the Prem might see very little development of younger players.

Hope not.

Maybe.

The question is whether an Academy produces really good quality players fast enough for the modern game, when signings and loans are the norm and you're likely to lose the best quality to the big, top-end Prem clubs, anyway. Also how to bring them through in an era where managers pay the price of taking risks much sooner than they used to.

I'd hate to see it go that way. Not just for the tradition we have at ITFC, but for the joy of seeing local lads playing for the team and the excitement of unearthing a gem.
