Defeat is disappointing, especially as it sounds like we just weren't really at it, but it also gives McKenna a chance to potentially freshen things up. Cook's win percentage throughout his time here was 29.5%. The stats you quote (whatever they are meant to represent) are the same win percentage so about what might have been expected from Cook (but probably only 1 draw and 4 losses). McKenna (currently) has a 67% win percentage.

Cook's dreadful record here is sometimes defended by it needing time for a new squad to gel. The solution you seem to think is that he would have been able to get another new squad in on 1 January (despite no club ever in the history of the game signing more than a couple of players early in a January window - instead business is left to the end when clubs get desperate and pay silly money).
