FA Written Response to the Morsy Incident 20:08 - Jan 31 with 2096 viewsSheffordBlue

Can't upload or directly link to the PDF but for those interested you can download the written justification for Morsy's 4 match ban. Main point I guess (not that there's much in here) is that Town submitted an additional video but that it wasn't clear.

Go to the link here and search under Ipswich for club - https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/discipline/written-reasons

They felt the initial TV footage was clear enough i.e the footage Town submitted didn't clear him

Sounds like the FA act on guilty unless proven innocent, which is good to know. Or if Andy Holt whinges on Twitter.

Forgot to mention why the hell the fourth official couldn't see what ever it was in front of him.

Showed it to my wife who doesn't support or understand football and didn't mention anything about the incident just said 'what do you think of that'

Her response 'the person in blue just punched the person in red'

She is a highly intelligent person!

Morsy needs to stop doing this kind of thing. He gets away with a lot. Can remember seeing him elbow player on the head and get away with it.

An unpopular but correct view.

Watched it on Five highlights that evening and there was no debate in the studio. Straight red.

If there's footage from a side view it could change that - it's not really clear whether Morsy's hand connects with face or shoulder from the main TV footage. He'd just been 'handed off' by Hamilton and is then running towards him - raising his arm to 'hand off' Hamilton wouldn't be a red card offence and was probably what the officials thought had happened at the time. I do understand why from the available footage they gave it though as it 'looks' clear cut. I think only clear footage side on could have cleared him.

Indeed. Absolute farce of a decision. All four match officials missed it, video evidence not clear at all but you’re banned anyway.

I suspect not jabbing him in the face would have given him a better chance of not being retrospectively red carded.

Yep. Can't believe people are arguing otherwise. He just gets away with a lot. Earlier in the game he pushed a player in the head. He could easily have had two yellows in that game as well.

It didn't look great on first viewing, the more I watched it the more I felt it wasn't a punch. However the court of the EFL have decided so we need to move on.

FWIW it was petulant from Morsy imho.

What a load of rubbish. If it was a Chelsea player would not have looked at it. Football now is so pathetic.
