I'm hoping the more Thompson plays, he'll get better and better. Lets not forget, KVY has been less than convincing this season and Thompson had only been with our squad for a day or two before Saturday's game. |  |

Indeed, KVY is not a left wing back as when he goes forwards, he's always looking to turn inside to get on his right foot. Thompson was off the pace on Saturday, which is unsurprising as he's played so little football. We must persist with him unless he doesn't improve or else it's a pointless loan. |  |

Our patience has run thin after Penney's inadequacies, he was clearly taken on as a back up player.
The removal of Kenlock, Coulsen and Clements clearly demonstrates the schoolteacher saw this as a problem position and Thompson is the first step towards solving it. He may not work out but I am prepared to give him a fair chance. KVY is to cover for Burns in his natural position. | | | |

I’m intrigued as to what the issue with Coulson was he looked great on the left and seemed very suited to the LWB role, clearly fit or close then joined Posh on loan. |  |

I'm hopeful that Thompson will show a bit more next week. He'd had 1 day to train with us and was thrown in against Wednesday's best player on the day. Also, I only watched on iFollow but some people who went said he made a lot of good runs but no-one tried to pick him out, so might be more attacking than first impressions indicate.
That said, I don't think our 3-5-2 works with a left wing back who can't progress the ball forward, so he's going to have to stop constantly turning back on himself. |  |
