I don't understand it tbh. He came here when his reputation and stock was high. He had rejected a few Championship clubs already as he didn't like their structure. He was also seemed to be linked to every club in the Championship and League 1 as first choice manager when jobs came up.

I think you would have to be very naïve to believe that his record here had done him no harm. The only manager this century who has left us with their stock as high as when they joined is MM (and maybe Magic but then he had no stock initially). |  |

It obviously would hurt his rep a bit but dropping to the conference?? He may have made a mess of things here but he’s clearly a better manager than that.
