The Ipcress File on ITV 12:41 - Mar 17 with 970 viewsNthQldITFC

Anybody else watching this? I'm really enjoying it. Very different from the film, obviously, but I think it has a great feel to it. Tom Hollander excellent as always, Lucy Boynton great too and utterly gorgeous, and while Joe Cole gets criticised in some quarters and might be trying a bit too hard to be Michael Caine in his delivery, I actually really enjoy his almost 'can't be arsed' performance.

I think this post has finally given me the push to watch it. I really like Tom Hollander's work. Wish we'd seen more of him in 'The Thick of It'

I look forward to catching up with it. I enjoyed the Michael Caine film and the Len Deighton book. Funeral in Berlin (same actor and author) was excellent too.

Binge watched it on ITV hub last week.
Probably the most enjoyable drama we’ve seen in yonks.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

I watched last week's episode because part of it was filmed in the village of Burton which is just down the road from me, and where John Peel grew up.

Less is more.

I totally agree. I loved the books. I disagree with critics saying he is trying to copy Caine. Cole has made the part his own. The whole production is excellent and authentically portrayed. Loving it.

It’s very good so far. I’m a Deighton freak but the tv show is doing a good job in synthesising the book.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

I haven't seen this yet but on the basis on this thread it sounds like I need to give it a look.

It'll be interesting to see Cole in a different role too since he left PB.

The reason he gave for wanting to leave when he did is not wanting to become tied to being typecast for that particular genre.
