McKenna sounded really pissed off on 18:39 - Apr 9 with 1829 views | whymark4lazio0 | If McKenna was that pissed off why the hell didn't he get one of players to sit down for treatment in the middle of the 2nd half and get his frustration across to his team. Shrewsbury were sitting back and almost begging to be beaten but we played with no urgency (honourable exceptions Bakinson, Morsi and Woolfenden who I thought were on it for the whole game) or threat. I don't mean we should have abandoned possession football- we should have been more careful and focused with our passing and made more forward runs- possession football but with the intention to score and not just content to play outside their area. All of us watching called it, Shrewsbury are going to sit back and look to nick a goal in the last 5/10 minutes. What pissed me off was that if we'd won, we would have closed the gap to 6 points but we played as if there was ZERO chance of making the top six and there was determination to make sure we won the game which was there for the taking.

It seems it’s the ‘Ipswich way’ to be too nice and too honest. If ever a game needed a bit of sh1thousery, this was it.

So you're blaming the manager for today's result?

Stuff the Ipswich way now; let's do everything to get out of this division. We can't beat them, so join them.

Yup,I've watched a few teams at Portman Road feign a couple of injuries so their managers could reorganise and get a few messages across. If it's tolerated we should do it, especially in a game like this when it was obvious that we needed to play with more intent to get the killer second goal.

Sorry but I disagree. The team he put out totally dominated yet we didn't finish them off . That has been our only problem since he arrived. Not the managers fault. A few additions in the summer, and I'm sure KM has his targets already, and we will fly. He's not going to be demolition man nor is he going to hang players out to dry. More like a silent assassin. Going to be a few surprises in the summer.

My point was that McKenna (who I think will be our best manager since Burley) said he was frustrated with how we were playing but didn't find a way to communicate that frustration during the course of the game. Can you imagine Klopp or Conti not finding a way (during the course of the match) to get their teams to play with more intensity?

First and foremost I blame the players but if the manager is not happy with his team's urgency he needs to find a way to get that message across when it counts, not in the post-mortem.

Good point. Maybe, just maybe there are certain players he knows are at the peak of their limits and that isn't good enough. Roll on August.

And burgess supplied it As to McK not communicating his thoughts - if only he could be close to the pitch where players could hear him [Post edited 9 Apr 2022 19:23]

McKenna sounded really pissed off on 21:08 - Apr 9 with 1297 views | FrimleyBlue | This is exactly why I said last week I can see some favourites being switched. I know it's not nice to see fav players replaced but this isn't KMs squad and he's seen no matter what rotation he uses in that final third the goals for column doesn't really improve. No idea how it went today shot wise etc by us. Can only go by goals scored and apart from Burns and strikers, That's what 4 goals in 27 games now between players in the final third? "That has been our only problem since he arrived. Not the managers fault." - why? Genuinely interested. Paul Cooks Ipswich scored 36 goals in 20 games. Kieran McKenna's Ipswich have scored 22 goals in 19 games. We all know we were too open defensively under Cook but we would also have spells where teams could absolutely not cope with us. Im not saying McKenna is not the right man but I dont understand the free pass he gets re. The limited threat we have since he's taken over.

It's not really a free pass, more an appreciation he has us 5th in the form table and controlling virtually every game we play since he came in. We aren't the finished article but he's done exceptionally well in a short space of time. I think "we all know we were too open defensively under Cook" is a massive understatement. Cook 20 games - scored 36, conceded 30 - GD +6, points 27 McKenna 19 games - scored 22, conceded 8 - GD +14, points 36 Interestingly, if you look at MK Dons over the 19 games since McKenna came in, they've scored 5 more and conceded 3 more, yet have picked up 8 more points. It's fine margins. Given how we control games and our defensive record, it'll take minimal attacking improvements for us to kick on even more from a position where we are already in top 6 form under McKenna.
