Thompson, Piggot, Bakinson and Norwood not good enough today… BUT 17:02 - Apr 23 with 1294 viewsunstableblue

…. We are also not dynamic and aggressive enough to really get into teams.

And a worldly did us again… which happens when you don’t score 2!!!!!

I thought El Miz showed hunger when he came on, and KVY had good moments.

But central mid, left and up top continue to concern.

Chaplin was though, very good.

Again people we are finishing 11th. If you we are suddenly going to become a top two team, given the strength of the top 8 this season then you are living in la la land.

Bakinson always seems to be running on empty for the last 20 minutes of any game he starts . I am not sure why he stayed on the pitch today .

I’m pretty sure he won’t be here next season you are right but mckenna allows it as long as we don’t lose possession, games ain’t won by possession we need to have strikers who hit the ball on sight.
We might have money to spend but is Mckenna going to have to rethink his tactics or come up with a plan B .

Just remind me, where did Wigan actually finish in this league last season?

20th. But that’s a Wigan side who started last season with a bunch of kids on the line up due to financial issues and, from memory, a transfer embargo. They went through a slightly smaller squad overhaul to us over the summer - 14 in, 14 out.

Wigan got the manager we thought we were getting, who is effective, and they made the 14 new players click ASAP… but that is hard

Our fans need to get realistic that we have not come close to Wigan’s strength and consistency

The question was really aimed towards the last comment the OP made about living in la la land. There are going to be many changes to all teams squads within this league during the coming months, it maybe a wise option to perhaps wait and see just how we shape up with our squad before making the claim of living in la la land.

They also regardless of changes to squad they make have players ready for battle.

We have a celina, he's either to good for this level and he's bored of it, or he's got long covid coz he's been useless recently,

a niche perspective

Aside from Wigan ... MK Dons came 13th last season and might yet pip Rotherham though unlikely ... Plymouth 18th last season have also shown how quickly a club's fortunes can change in this division from one campaign to the next.

Let's see what the combined recruitment acumen of Ashton, McKenna, Pert, Williams, etc yields this summer.

Can't afford too many duds though and boy does KM need to hit the ground running next season.

You don't get the same leeway in the third division for a club of our size and the clock will soon be ticking on KM's reign if the lacklustre form continues to any significant degree.

Yep all overrated. Ship them out and recruit well and we’re promoted.

I am sure we will sign players who fit what we need

(although this recent run of results is not good to help attract players)

BUT that alone will not guarantee promotion.. we'll need a bit of luck, great support, a shift in mind set, a great pre-season, and avoid injuries.. and some of the teams coming down to falter

THIS LEAGUE IS ABOUT TO END WITH 86 points to get into the play-offs which is massive.

That's because this division isn't strong. Wigan, Rotherham and MK Dons aren't sides that batter other teams week in week out, they're just consistent i.e. scrapping out wins by 1 goal margins. They're organised, strong and robust. We need players in that mould if we want to be successful in this league.
