Let's be honest. Coming from Fleetwood I'd imagine he was on a lot less than many of the other players that came in last summer and, as player of the season, he deserved parity in that respect. Makes sense to extend his years with the new wage, he's happy he's being valued, we protect our asset as such, hopefully also shows other players that they will be treated the same if they can reach his levels and acts as a big hands off to interested clubs, not that I expect many would have been able to offer what it would have taken us to think about letting him go.
