Anyone following the LIV golf league stuff? 18:18 - Jun 7 with 1070 views | unbelievablue | I really only follow the majors so would be interested if my "they're reprehensible greedy tossers for even considering it" opinion is mostly justified and agreeable among the more knowledgeable. I know Mickelson had a huge gambling problem so is likely recouping some losses.

Anyone following the LIV golf league stuff? on 18:31 - Jun 7 with 1047 views | hatch | It's the Super League of golf in my eyes. Dustin Johnson is being paid $150m just to play this season (roughly 10/11 tournaments I think) and his total career earnings are about $73m - he's 27 and former world number 1 and he's doubling his career earnings in 10 tournaments he doesn't even have to perform in. Crazy money and it's hard to know what you'd do until you're put in that position. Whilst I don't necessarily agree that the PGA Tour should have a monopoly I don't like anything which sees large Saudi investment. It doesn't sit right with me which is why I turned down free tickets to it this weekend.

Interestingly, football commentator Arlo White (British guy, Leicester fan) who’s been the voice of NBC’s coverage of the premier league in the US is quitting the footy to commentate on LIV golf. Seems an odd career move for him but he’s probably set financially for life now.

He is actually 37 he has earnt at least double the amount he has won on the tour in endorsements and sponsorship. He said in a recent interview that the main reason he chose to play in the LIV golf series is because it would allow him to retire in a few years and if he didn't he might never be able to retire. I mean is he for real, just how much money does he need for his retirement? It is just pure greed. I am all for the idea of revamping the current tours with innovative ideas to help promote the game, perhaps something like a world tour like in tennis. The LIV series is not really going to do that in my opinion and the vast majority of the players who have signed up for it are just doing it for the money and nothing else. $150m just to play...where is the incentive to win when the top prize is just $4m and these tournaments have zero prestige at the moment? [Post edited 7 Jun 2022 21:01]

Anyone following the LIV golf league stuff? on 21:07 - Jun 7 with 870 views | BlueandTruesince82 | It's insane money, if some Saudi chaps came to me and said here's is $150 mil to just turn up and do something uou love I'd find it hard to say no. Yes it's sportswashing but where does that end? Most countries have and many to continue to inflict terrible things on the world even if indirectly. I can't say I'll be watching and as much becaues as othes have said, there is no sporting incentive as the other issues surrounding Saudi Arabia I hope it fails but I understand people taking their skillset to the highest bidder, the PGA does not own the sport, I hope it remains the pinnacle and I get the grotesqueness of multi, multi millionaires making the best for me and my family argument for a few million more but none the less I understand it. Let's hope it acts as a semi retirement tour at best [Post edited 7 Jun 2022 21:22]

Anyone following the LIV golf league stuff? on 23:47 - Jun 7 with 695 views | bluestandard | I love playing and watching golf, and whilst I hate the fact the new league is backed by Saudi money, I also don’t like the way the PGA tour has failed to innovate and kept the status quo. If only they could just steal the good bits of the LIV league, which in my opinion are:- Shotgun starts Different formats (teams and leagues) 54 holes | | | | Login to get fewer ads

If I was already a millionaire and I knew it was Saudi backed it'd be a pretty easy decision to turn it down.
