Quick squad check - still more to come and some to go out 14:55 - Jun 20 with 1383 views | unstableblue | gK - Walton; Hladky RWB - Burns; KVY CB - Donacien, the Wolf, Edmundson, burgess, Ndaba, Baggot LWB - Leigh; Penney CM - Morsy, Evans, Ball, El Miz; Harper; Humphreys AM - Edwards; Dobra; Chaplin; Aluko A - Jackson; ladapo; Piggot Current squad of 25 What does this make me think?? We might keep Ndaba and Baggot for cup games and as back up with Burgess, especially with bigger squad and subs May be another LWB option coming in; perhaps Penney to go. I still a creative central mid… box to box ay join I think one more striker ..: with el Miz, Harper and Dobra going out Talk to me?!

Quick squad check - still more to come and some to go out on 14:58 - Jun 20 with 1343 views | STYG | Hladky will be off and replaced. Can't see Dobra staying and El Miz will likely be off too. I can see Penney going, plus Piggott and Baggott being loaned out. So that's 20 at that stage. Another striker in and an attacking midfielder has us at 22. Given the 18 man squad and 5 subs, I still reckon we'd look at another left back to compete with Leigh and maybe one more midfielder to replace El Miz. What is obvious is we need another quality striker and either Celina or a replacement. Would be surprised if we do much more beyond that. Think the big money is being saved for a top drawer striker and attacking midfielder, which I guess will take a bit longer to do, especially if it is Celina.

I think we’ll get another 10 but I don’t see us getting another 9 in unless Pig leaves. Agree with your other candidates to leave apart from 1P.

A top goalscorer has to be the priority , then see about what Celina would cost , if it has to be one or the other , then it has to be a goalscorer .

I thought apart from the sending off Burgess did well in replacing Edmundson; so surely he's ahead of Ndaba? But it will be a long season, we're not sure on Edmundson fitness, others will get knocks and we have cup games. Its great competition

I agree, but think that if we get off to a good start and are setting the pace or close to it, we'll be able to rotate a little in the back three, and doing so would also be good for the development of the other players in doing slightly different roles/partnerships to accommodate the rotations. So I'd see the starting three as Donna, Woolf and Fridge, but with Burgess and Ndaba getting runs, and the others moving about a bit in comfortable games if we can - e.g. Woolf and Fridge could both move one place further left to accommodate Ndaba or Burgess for a bit. I'm convinced the training and attitudes are great now, but there's no substitute for game time, so making sure that the nominal backups are up to speed if needed for a lengthy period is really important. Baggott on loan for a half season to come back in Jan if needed. Edit: Edwards still looks like a LWB option to me, battling it out with the Leigh. Against weaker sides we could definitely play Burns and Edwards, against tougher sides maybe only one, with a more defensive WB on the other side. [Post edited 20 Jun 2022 16:04]

I wonder if 5 subs may be a game changer, pun intended. You could argue that Baggott and Ndaba might be seen as backups and Burgess could move on, as Phil suggested may be the case. In games where we are 2-0 up or 3-0 up, which will happen, you could introduce Baggott or Ndaba into the back three to rest one of the others as a fourth or fifth sub when other changes are made. Same with Humphreys and maybe one or two other young players. It does allow us options to have one or two youngsters that can come into matches when we feel they are won, as well as covering for injuries and suspensions.

Evans out on the grass… Sure Edwards was probably out as well, not sure on Edmundson.

Not been any updates since the end of the season but all were due back for the start of pre-season. Perhaps not all of them involved on Saturday as might be taking things slowly but shouldn't be far off the rest of the squad.
