Given the vast difference between Palace and Wimbledon do you know how Kieran will be likely splitting the teams?

It would be a bit demotivating to send the best eleven to Palace and the potential subs once the season starts to Wimbledon, so will it be a case of sending two similar strength sides and is it full strength Palace or likely to be a Palace XI?

I did wonder if it would be something like:

Palace

Walton
Donacien Edmundson Ndaba
Burns Ball Harper Penney
Aluko Edwards
Jackson

Wimbledon

Hladky
El Miz Wolf Burgess Leigh
Morsy Evans
KVY Chaplin John-Jules
Ladapo

So roughly five or six potential Bolton starters each. Or do you think it may be more like 7-8 at Palace and 3-4 at Wimbledon?

I think we are playing in Palaces players who haven't gone kn their pre season tour, so their unwanteds and under 23z. I think the stronger team will be put out at Wimbledon with the idea they will play the full 90.

Surely Ladapo goes to Palace, he'll be looking forward to that one. I would take the bulk of the side to Palace personally, with the exception of Edmundson and Evans as they need minutes and the defence is lopsided otherwise. Maybe something like this:

Walton
Donacien Woolfenden Burgess
Burns Leigh
Morsy Ball
Aluko Chaplin
Ladapo

Dons:

Hladky
KVY Edmundson Ndaba Armin Penney
Evans Harper
Edwards Humphries
Jackson

Ahh didn't realise that. Probably be a real mix of players across both then.

It's a Palace XI rather than Palace, their first-team squad are in Australia. The stronger squad will be at Wimbledon, probably not far off what might start on the opening day.

Aye. Would’ve been a bit if an own goal from the club to send the stronger team to the behind closed doors game and play a weaker side in front of c.1,000(?) travelling away fans!

Indeed, not great to do that.

Any chance there'll be players involved in both games? Thought I read somewhere that KMcK said he was planning to give players 90 minutes across the 2 games (and considering Palace is only half an hour up the road from Plough Lane!)

Pick up a yellow in the first game, jump in a taxi then get stuck in in the second! For some footballers this must sound like heaven .

I don't think he said across the two, just that he's going to give players 90 minutes. That was what he said in the press conference after West Ham.

Just re-read that interview - the "across" part was KMcK talking about travelling between the games. That'll learn me to read things properly...

“We’ll look to get the players 90 minutes on Saturday, that’s the idea of playing two games on the same day, so it’s going to be a busy day for me and a couple of the staff getting across London,” he said.

“The idea is to get as many as we can 90 minutes. Obviously some of the players might have physical limitations to do a bit less but where possible we’ll get as many to 90 as possible.”

Because he can play on the right, and he needs minutes to work his way back from injury. When fully fit he starts ahead of Burgess for me.

It’s their unvaccinated players rather than unwanted. I understand that a number of their players would not be allowed entry to Australia which is why they have agreed to this fixture

Hmm wonder if the pic of Donacien suggests the palace line up might be slightly stronger than we thought?

The suggestion was stronger but not necessarily strongest team at Wimbledon.
