That last one is it the Kynaston one? In which case it is presumably well worth reading.

It was his very good book on the 1948/49 England tour of South Africa, and contains his first thoughts, very prescient, on the horrible inhuman politics of the National Party as they codified apartheid.

He lived in Alderney. A close friend of mine was his accountant. The lunches they had were apparently folkloric. His wine cellar was enormous. Don’t know what happened to it when he died. In the 70s and on to the the early 80s The Guardian had by far the best two sports journalists in Arlott and Frank Keating. [Post edited 6 Sep 2022 15:56]

"human" Arlott replied.
"Get out" replied the officer, through gritted teeth.
Arlott was also a vehement opponent of the ill fated 1970 Springbok Tour to England & had already said that he would refuse to commentate on it. |  |
