Are you so ideologically opposed to Starmer that you're taking the side of the man who sold Hinchinbrook hospital to the private sector and is now proposing on raising taxes for the lowest paid?

Happy to pay towards a worthy project.
Anybody with a half decent vision really. I am getting used to the idea of setting a low bar....but not Starmer low.

The first thing that summary says is that Starmer would reinstate the 45% tax band Truss has removed, and you're instead focussing on the difference between him and Burnham?

You went too early on the 'Starmer is just like the Tories' rhetoric and now you've been proved wrong, you're doubling down rather than holding your hands up.

Not sure it was that straight forward was it?

But I don't know the details so won't pretend to.

However this is a far more progressive outlook than we are currently used to so might be prepared to let the odd historical mistake slide if the right lessons have been learned:

"He also suggested the party should propose rolling out nationally the £2 cap on bus fares he is introducing in Greater Manchester, building more affordable housing, offering social care on NHS terms and prioritising the interests of young people. And he said Labour should include proportional representation in its manifesto. How Britain is governed is not a niche issue but a core issue, he said. Delegates have voted to have a debate on PR. (See 3.34pm.) But, ahead of the vote, Starmer has said he will not put PR in the manifesto."

P.R. privatisation of the railways, oh Starmer has ruled it out already.....good of the Tories to go full on to the right but Starmer is still tory light.

You’re losing the plot on this one. He’s miles apart from this government even if he’s not proposing everything you’d want.

I genuinely feel that the country is prepared for much more radical options. If we are not careful the full on nationalist right will offer them with the usual extras as per Italy. He is perceived as wet and of no conviction....the perception is correct.

other than Network Rail, it will be tricky for him to privatise the railways!

What sort of radical options do you think the country will accept, out of interest?

Burnham, Rayner radical for now.
Although at this point even Corbyn would have a good chance without the press.
Genuine wealth redistribution/social democracy. Rebuilding of society over selfish individualism....that sort of (not) radical thing.

We're never going to be without the press, though.

Perceived as wet?

It’s a good job his predecessor wasn’t some meek old man with riveting hobbies such as jam making and growing parsnips.

Excuse me.

I've grown some amazing parsnips before.

And I have often made jam.
