Sutton United v Salford City for me tomorrow…. 19:01 - Sep 23 with 1624 views | ITFC_Forever | Me and a few mates are all in the mid 70s or higher for grounds visited now, so when we’re not playing, we are starting to eye up games at grounds we haven’t been to. The nearest team at home tomorrow that none of us have been to yet is Sutton, so we’re off there in the morning. Just watch us draw them in the cup now…

Cheers, looking forward to it…. They’re probably got used to fans of random clubs popping along to up their ground count in the last year or so, especially on weekends with a reduced fixture list. [Post edited 23 Sep 2022 21:24]

Sutton United v Salford City for me tomorrow…. on 21:20 - Sep 23 with 1442 views | DJR | In the 80s, I played in the London Legal League, an 11-aside midweek league for firms of solicitors. The games were played on astroturf pitches around London, but cup finals were played under floodlights at proper football grounds. So as well as playing at QPR and Bromley Town, I have fond memories of playing a final at Gander Green Lane.
Sutton United v Salford City for me tomorrow…. on 21:36 - Sep 23 with 1411 views | xrayspecs | Enjoy. Visited Gander Green Lane when one of my other clubs AFCW played there a few seasons ago. It is not too far from where we live. A proper non-league ground. Away end is a Salford style metal stand. Home end is a hotch pitch of standing areas. Good little club and you will enjoy your day out.
Sutton United v Salford City for me tomorrow…. on 21:14 - Sep 26 with 1157 views | ITFC_Forever | Had an entertaining afternoon at Sutton on Saturday. Both sides tried to play good football, and in the first half, Sutton looked the more likely to score, but Salford had some very presentable chances too. Sutton did eventually take the lead just after the hour, but then got a player sent off for something none of us could work out….. the linesman came on the pitch to speak to the ref and the next thing we know, the red card was out. Sutton initially held on to their lead with ten men fairly well, but an injection of pace to the game from one of the Salford subs stretched the game and Salford duly equalised with 10 minutes left. I was pretty pleased at this, as I had both teams to score and a draw and was just considering cashing out, when Salford scored again to take a 2-1 lead. Sutton weren’t done yet though, and had a golden opportunity to equalise at the end, but the Salford ‘keeper (who was rather cocky throughout) made an excellent save down in the corner. There was a bit of pushing and shoving at the final whistle, but it was a decent afternoon out. The attendance was 3,404, their highest of the season, but you got the impression there were quite a number of day-trippers in the crowd to tick off the ground or who supported other clubs and had nothing better to do… Sutton were the only London league club at home on Saturday, and it said in the programme they tend to get better crowds on the international weekends - we spotted fans of Ipswich, Norwich, Chelsea, Palace, Arsenal, Spurs and West Ham, and reading through their Twitter feed, fans of a number of other clubs were there too.

I completed the then 92, after a dedicated effort to pick off the remaining 20 or so grounds, towards the end of the 2019 season. I managed to combine a few planned work trips with some of the games, and a few weekends away to pick off the more far flung games. I finished at Morecambe in April 2019, only for Spurs to get permission to open their new stadium two days later. I managed to get tickets for one of their home games shortly after it opened, it is a fantastic stadium, and was for me a regular haunt at WHL when I was a student living in North London. So the 92 was completed for the second time. I am now back to 86 of the current 92. Brentford have a new stadium since I last visited, the vitriolic Mick last stand, and there are a few new entrants to the top four divisions - Salford, Harrogate Barrow, Hartlepool and Stockport. I am not sure that I am now in any rush to pick these off again, especially if new entrants are so far north. Wrexham look a good bet for coming into the league this season, so will likely be added to the list. I got asked recently about my favourite grounds I have visited. The Spurs stadium is spectacular, fro the amount it cost, no surprises that it is by a long way the best. Fulham is the best away game for me. A wonderful part of London and the best walk from station to ground. I also love Bristol Rovers, a small stadium set into the hill above Bristol, a wonderful hotchpotch of stands, great atmosphere, and the best sausage rolls ever. Enjoy the journey. I completed the 92 for the first time at Bury... Covid's closed stadia meant I had a clutch of grounds to visit to recomplete. I was one of the few to be happy that we had to go to Barrow in the FAC last season! Sutton, Harrogate & Hartlepool were done late last season, Stockport had been done last March. Brentford recompleted the 92, but some will regard it as a cheat, as I did it in a Women's Euro QF.

When I went to Sutton, the Colchester fans were disgruntled and in 'revolting' mode, (manager Hayden Mullens was sacked the next day.) The stewards were charming - a bunch of amiable teenagers, one or two of them wearing hijab. This totally disarmed anyone spoiling for confrontation. Long way from a decent pub, mind. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I'm going in November and was wondering about the pub options (crumbly real ale drinkers). We'll probably break our train journey en route, unless anyone has any recommendations.

I should point out the pushing and shoving at the final whistle was the players, not the crowd!

We drank in a pub near the station in Carshalton, and it seemed to have the approval of the C.U.F.C C.R.A.D. and I bet they'd done their research.
