Going to give it until Thursday to see if any of the timetable changes at all, and probably cancel the tickets if not. Which is a huge shame.
Last trains on Saturday for Pompey match on 12:04 - Sep 27 with 2408 views | DJR | I'm not sure I'd want to rely on the last train, and a replacement bus, the day before a rail strike. It is possible to travel from London to Ipswich and back by National Express. The journey is quite long because it goes by Stansted airport. There is a bus leaving Ipswich at 17.10 which gets to London Victoria coach station at 21.00. And if you wanted a wild night out in Ipswich there is one leaving at 02.15 which gets into London at 06.00. As my journey is only two hours, I'll be coming by car.

The strike is on Saturday. There's not even engineering work on the Sunday, just normal trains.

I meant to say "on the day of a strike" but hopefully this was plain given the point of the thread. As it is, the trains on the day following the strike will take a while to get up and running.

Might hopefully be more trains announced later in the week once timetables are finalised. Says a lot about this shambles of a country right now that there’s strikes affecting one of the things which c. Half a million rely on each weekend for live entertainment and as relief from what’s happening in the world. Actually I take some of that back. LNER are still running a train nearly every half an hour between kings cross and Peterborough with a last train back to london at 5.30. Just those incompetent f***wits at Greater Anglia who are taking the easy way out again. Absolute joke.

The Pompey fans won’t even get to London if the useless idiots at SWR are as bad as usual, given that SWR runs train on that line to Portsmouth, Southampton and Bournemouth/Weymouth and for the last few strikes they have run a service only from Southampton to Waterloo on that part of line is disgusting! And then they are running like 7.30am to 6.30pm I think

At least there won't be any argy-bargy on the way to, and at, the station, but this may impact the number of Pompey fans.

The strike has been well publicised for the last 10 days as happening this weekend so I doubt it, they’ll all travel up on coaches or by car anyway, as will I do from Bournemouth too

They are mainly restricted by Network Rail on which services they run due to the signalling they operate on the strike days. Admittedly Portsmouth usually ends up as the poor relation to Southampton.

Last trains on Saturday for Pompey match on 11:17 - Sep 29 with 1260 views | jonb | Does anyone happen to know if there’s any coaches heading towards Witham/Chelmsford in the evening, if possible please? I’ve seen some mentioned they have procured transport from Sudbury and other areas, but as others have said the last train is inconveniently timed to head South!
